  3. Cheat codes for life

I overheard a conversation this morning. A guy was bitchin’ cause his boy was using cheat codes for his playstation games, “he’ll never learn anything about life that way”, he said. Now my gut reaction is to agree with him. I hate cheaters, I think fighting fair is honorable and to be respected. Holding yourself to a high standard is hard as hell when you look around and it seems like everyone around you has the cheat codes for life and you are the only dumbass trying to play by the rules. Frustrating indeed.

Recently I learned that not everyone holds themselves to the same values that I hold so dear. “Cheat to Win” they say, and they do, they cheat, and they win, and no one, absolutely nobody jumps up and shouts “Hey, they cheated!” It doesn’t happen. Why doesn’t it happen? My thoughts here dear Friends is that the powers that be have us so immersed in our own quagmire, so busy fighting for our own breath that we don’t have the time and energy left to stand up for our Brothers and Sisters. But when you end up in that endless cycle and it’s your turn on the chopping block the same rules apply, no one has the time and energy left to stand with you, so we all end up standing alone….and losing! Seems to me like it is a simple case of misdirection, easy to figure out if you know what you’re looking for, not so easy to figure a way out of the hole. The cheat code people have taken over the world and have us so distracted that we can’t even see straight anymore, we don’t have the energy left to fight, it seems most of us just try the best we can to make it through the day without getting noticed by the higher-ups, the dealers, and the cheaters. I think if we stand back enough and take a close enough look we would find that the higher-ups, the dealers, and the cheaters, are just as worn down as we are. Just as pissed off and just as tired of this ridiculous grind we have all been caught in.

So where are the cheat codes for life, I guess what I should say instead is where are the cheat codes for the society we have found ourselves forced to play ball with.

“I’M TAKING MY BALL AND GOING HOME, I DON’T WANNA PLAY ANYMORE”

That is my first reaction. Then I realize that going “home” is a sticky prospect. How can you keep your home if you don’t play the game? I heard an interview with Peter Fonda and he said something like “you think you own your house? Stop paying taxes on it and you will find out who it really belongs to” he said this as his reason for owning a houseboat and living there…Brilliant! You don’t like your neighbors you pick up and move. Excellent, except there are still dock fees and neighbors wherever you go; no matter what you do you are still tied into the system like the baby-pods in the movie “The Matrix”. “Just another Soul to feed to the mad machine”, Cory Taylor wrote that line and I get goose bumps every time I hear it.

“I DON’T WANNA GO! I WANT OUT; I DON’T WANNA DO THIS ANYMORE!”

I hear hippies talk about “getting off the grid” and it is intriguing to me, but it just seems so hard. I follow different groups that try it and it always seems that people with the kind of resolve it takes to do something that extreme are also very cut and dry about the things they believe in. Which is ok by me, but according to the groups I have watched try…and fail, it makes them very hard people to get along with because whenever you draw such solid lines in your ethics, sooner or later someone, even someone really close to your way of thinking will cross the line. I wrote a Song once called “Walk Away” about abandoning everything, strapping my guitar to my back and walking away from everything, but how to do it? Every time I start thinking this way I end up hitting a brick wall. When you walk away from everything exactly where is it you are walking to? I wish I knew the easy answer to that one, but rest assured when I figure it out, you, my Friends, will be the first to know! For now, I guess all we can do is make the best of it.

well today i was supposed to be writing a Noise Article, that was my plan.

But things got a little overwhelming...

10am - Drove to a Bar/Resturaunt to have a meeting about doing a possible performance there, sorted out a few things

10:20am - Began drive home, turned off roundabout and had to pull in to side as my accelerator...wasnt doing. Realised my car was in fact broken.

10:30am - walked back to bar to use their phone because mine had no credit, phoned dad and said 'phone me back...now' walked back to roundabout

11am - gave up on dad phoning me and presumed he wasnt able to for whatever reason, last time that happened he just came to where he knew i was and dealt with any problems

1:15pm - figured dad was busy but had probably left by now *still standing at roundabout*

    2pm - sat down

3pm - decided it was a lot cause, went to get all my valuables out of my locked car abandoned on the road and went and bought 5 mars bars and some water

3:30pm - started walking home, munching mars bars to keep me going

6:15pm - finally someone nice enough stopped and asked where i was going, she had seen me at 'a roundabout' on the way to work, and was now coming back and couldn't cope with just driving past knowing i had been walking for hours

6:30pm - got home, i had walked 15 of the 21 miles from the bar

6:45pm - left with dad to get car

    7:10pm - car all fixed

7:30pm- turned on computer :P and wrote this eventually

so...sorry, i'll do it tomorrow, if nothing else horrible happens.

Note: I have had lessons before, so that is why this lesson does not seem introductory to the violin. I have taken lessons, but my previous teacher fell ill and we were not able to have lessons for a long time. It has been four years since I have had a lesson, so this one is just getting back into what I have done before.

My first lesson was fun, and pretty short. We simply went over my orchestra class audition music (they were just some excerpts Mr. Martin collected that were used in KMEA auditions) and that was all. She showed me the rhythms, which was what I had been having troubles with. Now, I am able to play them slowly. If I can pick up the speed a little and still maintain accuracy, first chair is in the bag.

  4. Well, here's the link to the jam with my friend Joey singing.

    I hope you enjoy this!

  5. War breaks out in sunburst

    Weathers always at its worst

    Lightning always strikes first

It hardly makes you feel secure

They always use a dog bone as a lure

    But lightning always strikes first

Bombing for peace is like f*cking for virginity

Blowing holes will never cease, a nation of insanity

But it aint over 'till your dead and buried

It aint started 'till your head feels worried

Its not over 'till the sun sets

It aint started cause this aint the warmest it gets

Watch your step or you'll break your neck

Ambulance will only be a 'sec

But shit their off the roadside

Instead of helping you they f*cking died

God damn we never get no rest

Bombing for peace is like f*cking for virginity

Blowing holes will never cease, a nation of insanity

But it aint over 'till your dead and buried

It aint started 'till your head feels worried

Its not over 'till the sun sets

It aint started cause this aint the warmest it gets

Its never over 'til lthe sun goes down

Battle worn scars in your dressing gown

The wars over but you cant help but frown

    Somethings outta' place in town

Bombing for peace is like f*cking for virginity

Blowing holes will never cease, a nation of insanity

But it aint over 'till your dead and buried

It aint started 'till your head feels worried

Its not over 'till the sun sets

It aint started cause this aint the warmest it gets

It aint over 'till your dead and buried

It aint started 'till your head feels worried

Its not over 'till the sun sets

It aint started cause this aint the warmest it gets

It aint over 'till your dead and buried

It aint started 'till your head feels worried

  6. Shame but work is gonna drown me for the next 2 weeks.

  7. God, I don’t know what to say about today. Some was bad. Some was good. Some was absolutely nuts.

This morning I went to the hospital. I got an ultra sound done on my thyroid. Thyroids are gross looking. After that, I took this iodine pill to get me ready for my OTHER tests tomorrow morning. Then I got two tubes of blood taken.

The guy who took my blood was very attractive.

I got back to school in Journalism. Finally. All we did was talk. And Paige got her contacts.

In geography….all was fine. But that ugly, ugly girl…sitting next to Shane….Samara agrees….she doesn’t need to live anymore. I really feel bad when I see them talking…and her flirting…

Math was pretty freaking good. Talked to Shane more than usual. Good. I love talking to him.

Everything else was normal until Science…but I’m not gonna get into that ....tee hee...

    Got home….and that’s about it.

Liz is gonna ask Shane about that girl….but she brought something to my attention, that I did not want to admit….but it is the truth.

We’re not together anymore. It’s not cheating, and he has every right to date her.

I really do want to commit suicide now.

    xx

    P.S. I'm marrying him: :dancingstick:

  8. In the past two months my music has taken a turn in a slightly different direction.

Sometime in mid September, a guy from Paris France named Guy Debreilly who plays guitar (in many different genres) posted a link to a song on the 2090 forum he had recently completed which he called "Green Prairies" and asked if anybody thought lyrics would be appropriate. He said himself that he didn't hear a lyric/vocal line in it but wanted some other opinions on the matter. I was the first to respond and said yes, I can envision a lyric line. He responded once again saying that he didn't hear a vocal/lyric, but thanks for checking it out. I sent him a PM asking if it would be OK with him if I played around with it. He said it was not only OK, but he would be honored if I would. One of the other guys also had an idea but I got mine in first (not that I would've been offended if somebody else would've taken it on. After all, it was Guy's song, so it was really up to him). I added a lyric/vocal track dubbed over top of his guitar. I also embellished it with a bit of string synth. I wanted to retain his original title of Green Prairies but Green Fields suited the lyric better. I posted it and Guy was very impressed. He sent me another idea he called "Waiting For Tomorrow" which was another success.

Since then, Guy and I have agreed to a more or less permanent partnership we call Euromerica and started a separate page on Soundclick for it. We have 6 completed projects. Four are currently posted on SC.

"A Work Of Art"-pop tune (posted for review on Songstuff)

    "Green Fields"-Acoustic ballad

    "Waiting For Tomorrow"-Acoustic ballad

    "Ambiance (Vocal Mix) -Acoustic Jazz

    "Ambiance (Instrumental mix)-Acoustic Jazz

    "d-lerious" (a hard rock instrumental)

The first four are currently on Soundclick.

Guy sends me several new ideas a week. I've temporarily shelved my new solo ideas to work on the "Euromerica Project" and as we move forward I will ask Guy to do some guitar work on projects I initiate. The idea is that we are pooling our ideas and resourses together to make a quality form of indie music. We like to think of ourselves as a "cyber Steely Dan"

    Please have a listen:

    <a href="http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=762647" target="_blank">http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=762647</a>

    Guy's solo site here:

    <a href="http://guitarlover.free.fr/" target="_blank">http://guitarlover.free.fr/</a>

Guitarists take note that Guy lists his tunings with the samples on page 2.

which is a most dangerous pastime for me! I was listening to a news item regarding obesity! The general concensus is that we are all becoming obese, and in another 40 years, a huge percentage of the population will be clinically obese! The government is worried! The strain this would place on the, already stretched health service could be critical! It could cost millions of pounds to treat this 'new age' condition. The news item included expert testimony from er, 'experts', who concluded that our changing lifestyles were to blame! The evolutionary process is failing to keep up with our changing ways! Apparently? The Government is suggesting that we change our slovenly ways and will more than likely find a new tax or two to 'help us'

Well, I'm no expert! So I suppose the following points will make no difference in this ever changing world!

    Children aren't getting enough excercise.

    Government (and local council) response?

Sell off school playing fields to developers.

Allow the building of huge housing estates with tiny, or no gardens.

Set aside NO green areas in proposed new developments for children to play in.

On already existing green areas, erect signs bearing the legend 'No Ball Games Allowed'.

Reduce the alloted time spent on physical education in the school curriculum.

Set parents minds at rest by releasing known paedophiles into the community, and not keeping proper tabs on them.

    And while I'm fired up!

We keep hearing from the government about 'visions' and 'the future'. What's best for the country and all that bollocks! Well I'm getting a little pissed off with it! I don't want some assholes 'vision'! Gordon Brown keeps on about his 'vision' Well I'd like Gordon Brown to come and work with me for a few years and then tell me about his f*cking vision! I'd like him to have the same bank balance that I have! With no realistic chance of ever having a decent retirement payout. I'd like him to wake up in the morning and go to a job that he doesn't like that much. But I'd like him to do that for the rest of his life! The trouble is, we can't all be politicians! Who would pay for the pensions then? I hate politics because it is, in my mind, exclusive and not inclusive. The old chestnut of somebody representing the views of the community is the biggest con ever. Politicians represent the party they belong to. Party politics is a joke. The opinions and 'visions' of a tiny minority taking sway over the majority. If somebody can distinguish the difference between the two major parties I would like to hear it! Gordon has decided that the European constitution, that nobody wanted, is what we all really want, but just don't realise it? So he's going to call it a 'treaty' and give it to us anyway! Now the fact that we were promised a referendum on this by the government, is neither here nor there! The tiny minority in government wanted the 'constitution'. The vast majority of the people don't want it. As witnessed by the referendums held in other european countries. Never mind, lets change the name ! We don't need to hold a referendum then!

By the way! If anybody can tell me what the difference is between the parties at the moment? I'd love to hear it! When the Tories thought there might be a general election, they trotted out their proposals for a 'better' future. Then Gordon upset everybody and didn't call an election, but adopted all the Tories proposals instead? Do we need three parties? Do we actually need hundreds of MPs? Why not just have a prime minister? He makes all the decisions anyway? Why bother paying all the others? Like us, their 'visions' don't count for much! Unless you happen to be a sycophantic Gordon lover! If we have all these other 'Members', they start thinking! They try to invent new policies without first putting their brains in gear, (Or even starting the engine!) Some bright spark has now aired his (or her can't remember now?) views on what they want to get to grips with next! They are thinking of, get this, 'Targeting' middle class commuter belt citizens for drinking in their own homes! I don't know who said this but it was just another news item I heard. Whoever did say it should be deported back to the planet they came from! I remain quite exasperated! This shows you what kind of mentality is inherant in our politicians. Somewhere, somebody voted for this idiot! The thought of he/she ever becoming a powerful political entity doesn't bear thinking about!

I have abstained from voting since 1974. Not because I don't want to vote! But because I have yet to find somebody I feel deserves my vote! Another thing we hear lots about after elections, the low turnout! That's because the system is flawed! If the Governement was a business, it would have been insolvent years ago. "It's the best system we have" is something I've heard. Well I'll wait untill I hear of a better system before I waste my time thanks!

I'm going to finish now before I get too tense! >:(

  10. OK. So, I have started my own personal diary of sorts to keep track of my fishy business! It was suggested I post it as a blog! OK, so first of all, Since my diary did not start until I started cycling my tank I will give some BG info..

10 gal tank (to be used for quarantine/hospital tank)

2 inch gravel (1 inch sand colored fine substrate for plants, 1 inch colored substrate for looks)

    6 fake plants

    2 live plants

    1 large cave ornament

1 med sized pink/whiteish rock (real)

1 4 inch long bubble stone.

    3 plant bulbs

Before this first post, my two live plants where removed. (due to in order for my bacteria colony to grow, cannot have plants that will absorb all the ammonia)

    So.. here goes...

    Day 1 (9/29/07)

Added ammonia, waited 4 hours. testing 3.0. Added more ammonia to bring up to 5.0. tested 12. did 25% PWC. testing low again, added a few more drops of ammonia. Testing 5 now.

    Day 2 (9/30/07)

Temperature fluctuations. Yesterday w/ light 79.9F

    w/o light 96.4

    Before bed 75

    wake up today 74.

5:20 pm 80 (after light being off for one hour)

    Day 3 (10/01/07)

Ammonia holding steady. temp fluctuations continue. Removed fake plants. Bulbs still not sprouted. Will leave in until done cycling. if still not sprouted will remove and replace with live plants. Also: Two inches of gravel. Too much. removed 1 inch. Also removed rock as placement was not sufficient. any fish who would swim in front of filter would end up being pushed into it. Left cave. It and a few live plants will be more than suitable for its purpose as a QT tank.

    Hello everyone,

I know it's never a good thing to brag, but I have to tell someone.

My company Stora Enso, based in Finland, employing just under 50,000 is doing a story about photographers who work for them, in their next magazine. They selected one from Finland, one from Germany, one from China, and one from North America. Well, yours truly was informed today that I will represent North America. Seems that a fellow employee, and all around good egg, Shelly Ghere submitted my name to corporate and they liked some of my stuff. Apparently they don't have very good vision insurance down there.

Anyway, I hope by announcing this I am not jinxing things.

    Take care all,

    Tom

Well, I cant say I would be upset if I this week was completely erased from my memory. I kept hoping it would look up, but the change of tides never did come. I really hoped it would get better tonight when I got home from work, but nothing has changed, well other than another day has gone by. I know, I tell other people to look on the bright side, but im not seeing any light right now. Ive had to go all week wondering if my man was mad at me or if he was hurt or something. I was physically sick all week until yesterday and I didnt even realize why. I finally figured it was from the diet pills I started taking. Work has been BLAH but also BOOM. alot of clashing. One of the supervisors is breaking down, she just cant handle it anymore. If she would start taking advice from other people she might make it, but if she doesnt change soon, shes going to be fired. Me, im just trying to keep myself out of the way, do my job and nothing more, since everyone is pretty much ignoring me anyways and nobody ever seemed to give a f*ck when I went the extra miles anyways, so f*ck it. Im sick of being the only one who cares. but oh well. Then, oh and this is great. I spent $300 on two bedding/curtain sets (one blue one purple) and of course, just like always my luck.. what happens? delivery problems.. why.. f*cking asshole sellers feel the need to use DHL.. goddamn idiots. now I was supposed to get the damn package 2 weeks ago, I talked to a woman at DHL last saturday and gave her VERY clear directions and a description.. goddammit theres a huge f*cking rock face mountain right behind my house, you cant miss it. she told me, oh yes, i know where you are talking about, we will get that back out to you next week (this week).. well guess what.. IT HASNT COME!!!! I just went on dhl to see the tracking info.. its giving me errors like crazy wont let me view the tracking info WTF.... but hey, whats it matter, with my luck I probably wont even be getting my new house anyways, or my husband for that matter.... someone just give me a hole to crawl into, please.
