We are excited to announce details of the next AIM Social, our quarterly gathering of the independent music community. Taking place at Strongroom Bar in Shoreditch, London on 7th March, the social will be a rock takeover, with member labels Holy Roar and BASICK RECORDS going head to head on the decks.
Formed in a spare bedroom in late 2005 by Nathan Barley Phillips, BASICK RECORDS quickly established itself as one of the most progressive up and coming labels in its field. Releasing early material from emerging UK bands such as Enter Shikari and MyPetMe, the BASICK label soon became synonymous with the cutting edge of heavy music, going on to put out seminal records from Misery Signals, Bury Tomorrow, SikTh, The Algorithm, Napoleon, Skyharbor and Devil Sold His Soul among many others. Now a fully-fledged international record label, BASICK continues to be one of the forerunners in its genre.
The inspiration for Holy Roar Records was derived from a vision founder Alex Fitzpatrick had whilst on the hallucinogen LSD. The vision came to Alex, as he listened to Slayer, in the form of a lion with the face of Jesus. Due to the significance of the music and the vision it was decided that the label henceforth be known as "Holy Roar", the holy referring to the face of Jesus, and the roar referring to the lion. The label has released record by GLOBAL CHARTING SUPERSTARS such as Rolo Tomassi, Trash Talk, Touche Amore, Bossk, Employed To Serve, Bongripper, Make Do And Mend, Brutality Will Prevail and many more.
The AIM Social Rock Takeover promises a unique mix of music from two exceptional independent rock labels, and the chance to network with over 200 people from the UK independent sector and wider music industry. Lara Baker, Marketing and Events Director at AIM said, “The AIM Social is a great chance for the independent sector to get together and build contacts and friendships without agenda. Our Rock Takeover is going to be a great night, and we look forward to hosting future events highlighting the many exciting and diverse genres represented in our community."
AIM Socials are open to AIM member labels and the wider music community, including labels, managers, PRs, artists, publishers...everyone! Places are free, but highly limited. Sign up to the guestlist below! A guestlist will be in operation on the night, so everyone wishing to attend should be sure to register in advance.
