It was better known as the Granada. Consul was the low end model. 

Gregory Peck drove one in 'The Omen'.

 

The Sweeny might have been the cop show. Though it might have been called 'Flying Squad' in the US. The UK title is rhyming slang.

Very cool photo.

 

I had the same model car but with a Granada badge, and someone had put a 3litre Capri engine in it, way back when I was 17... although mine was already ancient and was hand (brush) painted with black Hammerite (which I now realise is unforgivable).

 

Those were the days.
