  1. Hey, just wanted to let you know I've two new songs posted to my YouTube channel here. The first is called Hobo In My House. The second is The Secret Room, it's a sequel or continuation of Hobo In My House only taken a little bit deeper. Please enjoy
  2. Whoosh you lucky duck! I'd probably sell my soul if I could never get writers block! Thanks for the advice LayneGreene!
  3. Thanks, I'll work with that. I hadn't thought of melody being used as a guide. Thanks for the advice
  4. Lately, my songs I've been writing have been posing a great challenge for me to actually get done with. It could be summed up as this. Writing the lyrics are like taking my skin off, but when I get to putting my music with it it's like trying to put my skin back on after it's been torn, and stretched to be taken off. It just doesn't fit quite right! I know how it SHOULD fit, but it doesn't. Even though technically, or theoretically, it should fit. Any advice how to get out of this? Keep writing and don't stop? Take a break? Spin around in circles singing "Do Your Ears Hang Low"? Anything?
  5. "Maybe it is all a test, cause I feel like I'm the worst so I always act like I'm the best" - Marina and the Diamonds, Oh No!
  6. Lyrics first almost always (there's always an occassional exception). Then I work with whatever instrument and work from there normally with my chords. Melody, is very beautiful to me in a lot of songs but I am the worst person with working with it, especially in trying to play maybe a melody on the piano. Sometimes I figure something on piano or guitar that sounds good, then I don't have anything to go with it, I forget about it, then when I get a song written and I go to work with the music I find what I've forgotten and then I'm stuck in a chicken or the egg situation.
  7. Thanks a lot! I agree with the everything you said. Right now, I'm really trying to use these next few years for experimenting with my sound, and get a plan together while I don't have to worry about buying groceries and pay bills. Mainstream, isn't something I'm against but I don't think it's something I could be. It just wouldn't feel right. As for the classical music, I have been (luckily) exposed to it from piano lessons, and the occasional visit to the classical station on the radio. Again thanks, I'm glad you like Pre-Black Widow.
  8. Ok, so I guess this could possibly fall under "shameless promotion" but also this has been a question I have really been trying to figure out and haven't been able to. What is my genre? My YouTube channel is here http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCijq7IdmdYrBFjopUO2M6wg?feature=guide , if you could take a quick listen I'd appreciate any feedback on what you think it counts as thanks
