  1. totaly agree! i remember a few singers a few years ago used chorus and not a subtle one either... even in metal you have to choose the right key for your voice, i struggled for a few years thinking it was my playing ability or my programming, and i cant say how important that point is! i also think its easier to pick up where your going wrong, to much effect will mask those areas, but to improve you need to hear the errors! me personally - il use a good compressor and a nice reverb. that's about it! I do think to many people auto tune, and to me, id rather hear someone who i know can pull it off live as well! its something for me as a musician to aspire to!
  2. i agree with the above comment! ive heard a lot of bands paying for a service and getting a completely different production to the samples online, now... if contracts were written up properly, then i guess that wouldn't be an issue. like steveA said above, depends on how good you are i guess, there's more and more bedroom studios getting good productions, so i guess youd have to proove your worth! good luck anyway!
  3. Theres a lot of theory goimg on here for a guy whos only been playing 3 months.... Always remember there are two types of players.... ones who know theory and want to learn it and ones who dont.... in my experience most people just want to start playing music.... and the inderstanding comes later......i think the technique is more important at this stage of your playing.... so just learn the basics of playing.... remember to have fun.... most people give up in the first few months because they think they cant do something. Enjoy your playing!
  4. Depends on the quality.... there might be more call for that in a metal/rock genre.... if i found someone to do a pro mastering job with my solo work....id be interested.
  5. I think the services of some pr companies are defo worth looking into.... unless you have the contacts of coarse. In my experience.... you can get great deals with a bit of bargaining and get your music the much needed boost it needs. As with everything...research is the key.... That said there are lots and lots of things you can do at home to improve things.... from making sure u appear in google searches to contacting online radio stations that will play demo tracks. in this case networking is important. Facebook is a valuable tool.. but be aware... no one wants to see unprofessional messages.... spam... and the like. It will result in being ignored.... and valuable contacts not made. I agree with johns post above... with a bit of drive and determination... anythings possible.
  6. Usually in any band... its whats best for each song... i would record both versions and see which sounds better.... sometimes its vibe over melody.... and that could depend on lyrics.... also melody means nothing without feeling.... Record em... a and b them.... one should stand out
  7. All are none - wonder to behold .mp3 hey guys just a quickie to introduce my solo work to you. the projects called all are none www.facebook.com/allarenone its melodic metal, (heavy) but i try to mix in some lighter material as well, please let me know what you think thanks guys! much love trant
  8. on recordings i use delay reverb and chorus, for live either a small digital delay or reverb just to fill out the lead tone.... i need to get a graphic eq
  9. youtube all the way, years ago you had to go out and buy a book or dvd or take lessons, these days, you can stream lessons via youtube.... the only downfall is, beware of bad technique, research into whatever style you want to play and make sure you sort out any issues now..... (later on you could pay for it) but most of all - have fun!!!! post a video, challenge someone online to play a song via youtube or use someones drum video to record over! the internet is an amazing thing
  10. i would suggest downloading a pedal note or pedal rhythm track and playing a solo using more than one mode, go for what sounds right, and try and incorporate the different feeling without sounding odd... practice makes perfect as they say.
  11. i like the dunlop jazz III's - they do an xl size which is a standard size pick, and that's the one i like. the point on them is just lovely. try them out if your into your more technical playing guys.
  12. Welcome to the forums mark tranter aan :)
