  1. Hi, I heard Jordyn play a snippet of "Bitter Pill" the other day and I can't tell you how impressed I was! I had a vision of how it might sound but she's made it sound beyond anything I imagined... I told my mate Shawn, her father, I wanted to jump out of my chair when she started playing! She is so busy tho winning all the local talent competitions and writing herself- I heard one of her songs and again, so impressed.. im not pushing her for a demo of my song but its coming..

    hasta pronto, Neil

Where is your online "home"? Where is your music available as a resumé? Are you pitching any other songs to other artists just now?

You don't need a good memory, just good memories..

  3. in one of those stages.. a few new lyrics in progress but no time.. my friend Jordyn Richards likes "bitter pill" which has changed slightly since last post.. she has been working on it so I hope to share it soon..

this is Jordyn playing her rendition of "Billy Jean"

Hi Neil, the verse key feels just a tad low for her. She might benefit from taking it up a semi or full tone providing she can handle that in the chorus. The cover song she has chosen isn't the best of choices for her because without the vibe that michael had it will always sound a bit lame with basic guitar.

I do wonder if she was to let someone else play the guitar whether she would focus more on her vocal because I noticed that she is concentrating on her finger placement with the chords which can distract from the performance.

She seems to be quite young in voice so has plenty of time for it to mature. I think she needs more time to progress and has a lot of potential.

  4. Hey LG.. When i joined Songstuff in 2013 i was recovering (or should i say "not recovering") from a broken relationship. For me to elaborate would be too complex. Let’s just say BPD (borderline personality disorder), like any mental illness, can wreak havoc on those suffering and anyone close to them. I’ve always been a songwriter with a dream that one day i’d record a song, but mostly i write because whether my head is in a good or bad place, its a 3rd dimension. If im looking for love, in love or falling out, or just in a stage of life, i can record my feelings and express myself. Its a diary of my emotional rollercoaster. Writers are artists and artists are creative, insightful, sensitive, i could go on. You can be an introvert and extrovert at the same time. You can put your feelings out there so people understand, and you can help yourself by clearing your head… I have not a shadow of doubt what you say is fact. Writing is self - help therapy. And to have a community where you can drop in anytime and express yourself, know someone is listening, and receive advice… Songstuff to me is far more than just a forum. Songstuff has been instrumental in my recovery. When i joined i had so much going on in my head but it was too hard for me to seek help from family or friends. I wrote every idea that came to mind. I wrote constantly. It was the only time i felt at peace. And i’ve made many friends, one in particular who i consider a close friend.. (hey BK!)..A good forum can be the ultimate release for a writer. It doesn’t matter how good or bad, experienced or not… if you feel the urge to write just do it.. All you need to be a “songwriter” is the desire… And thank you Songstuff! Neil

  6. I think you're probably right- most American places are either Spanish or from Europe so it must be those iconic songs.. not so long ago all you heard on most radios was music from USA. my mum was born in Edinburgh and was a boarder at dollar. I was born in barnes, London but lived in oz all my life. aye! neil
  7. hey all- I just finished critiquing a lyric " Cove55 posted topic A Feather In The Wind " which referred to several place names in USA, and it made me ask a question ive had on my mind for years now. why are place and geographical names specifically in USA not just well suited but seem like they were made for song writing. I hear songs with Australian names you would think would relate better to me, and there's some great names like gundagai or darling downs but nothing adds magic to a song like Alabama, California, montana etc etc. I think USA is the most familiar country in the world, to the rest of the world, but I think its more than that and id really like to know why... any ideas? neil
