  1. Thank you both for taking the time to read my song. Cheers.
  2. Stone at your window Second floor sneak out Floorboards use to sing As you snuck outside “Kill the lights and drive” Remember how you felt inside? I remember seeing freedom In those big brown eyes For the rest of the summer It was you after me Dancing in the street To my skippin’ Stones CD Meet me after dark Where the moon meets the sand Take my hand lets walk Through vacationland It’s the town I love It’s the town That loves It’s the town That loved When the sun went down Remember the ashes? Raining over me Fireworks in your eyes Summer dress in the breeze Long warm nights Coppertone grease You said” lets play a game” On who can care the least Those nights gave in To the eerie autumn breeze I still see your face Packing up your case Meet me after dark Where the moon meets the sand Take my hand lets walk Through vacationland It’s the town I love It’s the town That loves It’s the town That loved When the sun went down I remember your taillights And your engine droning on One hand out the window Then you were gone It all started here But went so fast Got to remind myself That was then Sometimes late at night I hear the wind in the trees Sounds like ghosts dancing Dancing in the street Meet me after dark Where the moon meets the sand Take my hand lets walk Through vacationland It’s the town I love It’s the town That loves It’s the town That loved When the sun went down You were the crack in my life That let the light come through X3
  3. Awesome write ! I imagined some down home country picking to it !
  4. I like your lyrics, although the way you've formatted them made them hard to read. Well done!

  6. Not a big hip hop fan, however enjoyed reading your lyrics. I COULDN'T help but here a heavy snare drum while reading through your lyrics... With a re-write I think you'll have a solid hip hop song. Good delivery.
  7. You’re my memory of this town and its fading fast Like the fleeting light as streetlights flash Underneath the bleachers the homecoming queen Whispers “At last†And the coach screams out lines of fire As the jocks wipe their eyes. The crowd’s roar is hushed when john points to blush the teams begging to dim the lights. But our bark is worse than their bite. Coach “stop your screaming for where there’s worry there’s a bit of pain†The Fullback takes the ball and rushes memory lane. Together were all right tonight were alright Were alright Tina and the girls roll up half late, Nothing short of being on time. They roll up their pants and take the floor while nicks on the wall, trying to muster up a little something to ask for more. He walks across the floor And meets Tina at the door And begs her for her last one It really made my night Together were alright Were alright The greaser’s downtown Crouch under the hood With greased out 501 jeans The radio plays Glory days like I’m your boss tonight Together we turn this big old wrench In this small dead beat town But it’s all right Alright Alright You’re my memory of this town and its fading fast Like the fleeting light as streetlights flash Underneath the bleachers the homecoming queen Whispers “At last†Well now Tina dropped off Never finished much and was always half late. The jocks went on, but could never let go Of the glory they had so long ago. The greasers greased themselves out Callused hands and jeans too worn-out to wear. You’re my memory of this town and its fading fast Like the fleeting light as streetlights flash Underneath the bleachers the homecoming queen Whispers “At last†I drove down your road today. I got a feeling that you weren’t away. Took me back to a simple place. Warm air, shawl lace. A scream of lust on a pretty face. No matter how many times I drive by It aint going to make it right No matter how many times I drive by It aint going to make it right No matter how many times I drive by It aint going to make it right But tonight baby Im all right.
  8. Oh I did! Trust me, always thought it was weird seeing these "picture perfect" marriages on t.v, and how quick they go sour. Inspired me to write this. Not a personal experience
  9. Thanks for the response HoboSage! This is a song I wrote in eight grade, found it in my middle school notebook... Im in college now thought it would be fun to share...memory lane. Im going to re-work this one. THanks, Luke
  10. Linda and I Couldn't find a lie Straight for the honeymoon With tears in her eyes Fresh out of High School We left this town Put the rules beside your wedding gown Candles lit We were laying low Under the trance of the Fall wind blow Room was hot And I forgot that it could ever snow Everything we took We took it fast Under the vulgar impression That this will last Digging deeper Finding flaws You're not what I put a band around I'm starting to feel like abandoned sound Searching for a echo in a lost and found Her lack of love is masked by a pretense that all is well You're a withered hand in a velvet glove Preying on me like a homing dove You're a sheep skin with a wolf's blood Candles lit We were laying low Under the trance of the Fall wind blow Room was hot And I forgot that it could ever snow I stepped out of bed today On the fridge the message read “A shadow on a wall a tiptoe down a hall a phone no one calls a splinter in a thumb a winter without sun It was fun being yours Sincerely sorry for wanting more
  11. This street is my burning hell This hammer is my wedding bell Ringing out the best of me I’m married to all I’ll ever be Born into dust Faded to bone Lost from lust And jaded from stone This is me And I made it alone I had my shot, and the arrow flew Curved right around, and missed you Now I’m alone in my room, with wicked thoughts riding brooms. Rain out the days that I’ve spent here Wash away the sweat from my ears My hard hat drips what I stand for Leading me through my six day war Sometimes I lay awake, Dreaming of youth Drowning in aches And running from truth I had my shot, and the arrow flew Curved right around, and missed you Now I’m alone in my room, with wicked thoughts riding brooms. When Five o’ clock comes I look for the throttle Maybe tonight I’ll find a smile with a bottle. What I could have been, I’ve learned to let go What I am, I yearn to know. I’m getting old, I can’t watch that All I got is this hard hat I had my shot, and the arrow flew Curved right around, and missed you Now I’m alone in my room, with wicked thoughts riding brooms. I had my shot, and the arrow flew Curved right around, and missed you Now I’m alone in my room, with wicked thoughts riding brooms.
  12. Justsoulin and KaGy, I’m afraid you’ve read this song and taken the lyrics very literal. I usually don’t explain the lyrics I write to people, I feel as if explaining what I wrote about strips away what resonated for them upon their first read. I think the beauty of song writing is to find the personal connection to lyrics, it’s not about the literal story the author of the lyrics intended it’s about what they mean to you. Here’s what they mean to me, hope this helps you have a better understanding. This street I walk>>shows repetition, and stresses familiarity. This character knows these streets like the back of his hand. Got up and took the wrong turn>>>>>>>>>>>>>> He’s starting to get sick of the streets that he knows so well…Familiarity breeds contempt. This street I walk Is the only streets I’ve have ever known >>>>>>>>this is the town he was born into. Showing his lack of other culture “this is all he knows†This street I walk>> Here’s the stop sign now and it’s blown.>>>>>>>> This line symbolizes his attempt to escape the familiarity of the town. Running the stop sign like nothing was ever there. Stop signs slow you down. He’s not going to let anything stop him from escaping his familiar town. This street I walk Walking like my hero’s did>>>Walking the same streets his idols did. So clearly coming from a town that his hero’s did. This street I walk Wasn’t a dead end for them>>>He walks the same streets that his idols did. How did they make it out, using the same path he did? He’s feeling as if it’s a dead end for him but wasn’t for them. This street I walk Its time to merge up around this bend>>> the definition of merge is to combine or cause to combine to form a single entity. This symbolizes him merging into his “idol†and escaping his familiar town on the same ticket his “idol†used. We drove rural roads>>>>> Drove rural roads, pretty straight forward line Your curfews close and your not alone. >>> He’s bringing a girl home and a girl into the story. But I’m thinking in seconds baby>>>> He knows this girls curfew is close but he’s thinking in seconds. Which means being in the moment. It may be ten minutes, it may be twenty minutes, but they don’t care because they still have time. And “right now†is all that matters In this dusty beach parking lot>>>>> Parked in a parking lot. Beach parking lot explains that it’s a coast town. Looking at the stars through the T-top>>>>> T-top is a type of convertible mostly released in the 70’s and 80’s. Parked in a parking lot looking at the stars. And I have a feeling there going to look back.>>>> This lines symbolizes the “stars†being celebrities, As celebrities are so often called “starsâ€. This is a metaphor for the “hero’s†he has to look out, because here he comes! He’s getting out of this town and going to become a star. I still remember>>He’s recalling these fleeted memories so reader can assume he made it out. The sound you made, as you walked up the drive> imagery of walking The way your headlights flickered behind> Imagery of driving having her follow him Pulling me closer on the bench seat now> Bench seats were another 80’s thing a seat with no center console so you could sit three deep up front. Again, imagery of this girl pulling him closer I’m nothing short of what your daddy allows. > Remembering how this girl’s father accepted him. He was nothing short of being allowed to take his daughter out. Those streets you walk>> Notice how “I†changed to “youâ€. This shows that he left this girl behind in his hometown. Until the cul-de-sac ends> A cul-de-sac is a street or passage that is closed at one end. This symbolizes the “girl†being stuck in a passage closed at one end. Living out a dead end life. Those streets you walk Wondering where I’ve been? >>She’s wondering where her man ended up, what he’s been up to? Those streets you walk Listening to me through this microphone> This line puts together whom his “hero’s†and “idols†were. Cleary musicians. She’s hearing him through a microphone or speakers or maybe in her case speakers. When you hear this song don’t feel alone>These two lines show him saying: “Look I know I left you and the town behind to go after pursuing what my “idols did†(music career)..Sorry…don’t feel lonely when you hear my music. I hope it heals you, makes you remember what left you.†When you hear this song don’t feel alone> These streets we walked_____ I hope this helps you guys understand the lyrics better. All the best, Luke

  15. Lets cut this anchor, and turn the helm Widowed wives live to tell A captain says; A captain gets. A worried crew never regrets. Worried crews never regret. "She's coming on boys, and she's coming on strong" The radio is lost in the fog This vessels built to hold my bones One more lung, and I'm gone One more lung, and Im gone Three sheets to the wind I'm not here to lose Whats a story if everyone died? Don't be so scared, I truly care. I just can't lay it on the crew. Treat it light, treat it like You already knew, It's only cold, and its only blue "She's coming on boys, and she's coming on strong" The radio is lost in the fog This vessels built to hold my bones One more lung, and I'm gone One more lung, and Im gone Dear Andrea Gail, I write for you to know Id like you to know Id like you to know Dear Andrea Gail, Where ever you go Where ever you go Where ever you go Dear Andrea Gail, Your the wind in my sails The wind in my sails The wind in my sails Dear Andrea Gail, Im the timber your the nails
