  1. Hey guys/gals I am very very close to picking this one up new due to lots of advise from local community forums here in South Africa but would love to hear your opinion on this axe. Tokai LC107 (2014 Model) Tokai's change their model numbers on their guitars depending on the year model which makes it a bit difficult to do proper research. I was set on an Epiphone Studio version, then nearly forked out some extra cash for a real Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute but decided to do some more homework and people strongly advised me against it. Tokai is quite popular here in South Africa but I just love a Les Paul shape and sound. I am advised that the Tokai LC 107 is quite on the standard of a Gibson Les Paul Standard for it's money worth. Any advise appreciated! Thanks!
  2. Thanks TapperMike, no, the circuitry is most definitely not nearly functional I pretty much just cut out the shape of the scratch plate from an old 386 motherboard. People always ask me, why is your Guitar broken?
  3. Wow, so many funky, weird & awesome guitars I'll post this pic I took of my "Self" custom'd Kramer Neptune since it may fall in the "weird" collection. I customized it roughly 14 years ago when I was 16 so don't judge too hard! I basically combined the two things I love, Music & Technology. I'll post a "non-art" picture on request.
  4. Wow, John, you went way out to give me some proper advise. Same to you Mike. I understand that if someone is serious enough about working with you, the approach should be much more professional with some black on white to back it all up. I decided to give this one a skip and will continue working with the people I know are "Legit" Thank you so much for everyone's professional advise. I really appreciate it!
  5. Hey, I am most probably the worst person to comment on this topic but was asked by justsoulin to do so since I use Bitwig. I unfortunately do no posses enough "DAW" knowledge to give comprehensive feedback on it and to compare it to other DAW's out there. I just recently started playing with it as a request from a good friend of mine who wants to collaborate with me so we try to work on the same DAW's to make it easier to send projects to one another. I have worked a bit with Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio, Ableton Live,Cool Edit, Audacity and now Bitwig. Bitwig immediately gives you a "GUI Scrambled" feel of Ableton, there is no doubt about that. The GUI is very light weight and very responsive which I like. I also love the fact that the when a plugin crashes, your main project stays in tact and you simply can reload the VST and pick up where you left off. The DAW is still in its early stages and they often release updates to patch bugs here and there. I work for a software company & I am used to the industry so this doesn't bother me too much. I'm a patient kind of guy:P I also like the fact that they are catering for Windows, Mac as well as Linux. This expands the collaboration possibility even more so that's obviously a good thing. Overall, I like it very much but I still believe that a person should use a variety of tools to get the best kind of sound/feel for different kinds of styles and music. I understand that this is not always possible for everyone recording at home due to the costs involved. I will give more feedback on it as I work on it Cheers
  6. wow, hehe ok, a lot of good advise here but never knew it could get so complicated. Confirming what I understand then for this to be considered as Ghostwriting would be for them to provide me with the instrumental track, lyrics & a sample of how they want it to be sung which requires no creativity from my side. Sooo in that case, it seem like this would be a bad idea to proceed with this in terms of me only getting a fixed payment for a lot of creativity work. Thank you for the advise, think I understand much better now Cheers!
  7. Wow, I'm then very confused =/. They created the instrumental track with everything except vocals and asked me to write and sing anything I like on it. For example, if you had to take and example, lets say... Wake me up from Avicii. The guy "Aloe Blacc" that sings, he just..sings to the song, does that mean he should have copyright and Avicii not? or am I very confused???
  8. Sorry, was referring to Vocal Melody in response to HoboSage,
  9. Ah, i understand, hmmm, will play around with this. I am given free range to do minimalistic vocals. I'm doing melody as well as songwriting lyrics. not sure how much these thing go for at all.
  10. Hi All, Not sure if this is the best section to ask this but I am hoping to get some advise on how to approach this situation. I have been asked for some ghosting on Vocals for a track by a producer and I understand that I will not be entitled to any copyright/royalties etc but instead be paid a fixed said amount for my work. I have no physical interaction with any of the parties but have done a bit of homework and things seems to be in the clear. Now for my question, if I go ahead and record some vocals, and send it through to be evaluated, how do I do it without any risk of "not getting paid". Do I send through an ..edited lower quality .mp3 instead of a full high quality .wav? or how do I do this? Any advise will be appreciated. Thnx
