  1. I remember Cool Edit Pro! Used it a loooong time ago. It was pretty good at the time.
  2. I started out originally with Acoustica which was a precursor to Mixcraft Pro Studio which I use now. I tried Ableton Live Lite but found it to be too cumbersome for my uses. I find Mixcraft to be a very powerful and inexpensive tool for simple recording musicians. What sold me on purchasing it was the amount of plugins and virtual instruments that came with it for under $200. I've also tried Pro Tools First but it's too limited and I can do as much or more with Mixcraft. If someone's looking for a great value to get your feet wet with, I recommend Mixcraft Pro Studio.
  3. I have a Focusrite 2i2 that has about 10ms latency at my present settings. They just came out with a smaller Clarett version that brings the latency to almost nil. Not bad price either (depending on your budget) about $460. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Clarett2Pre?adpos=1o3&creative=93365752201&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=CNnZi56ylMwCFVFsfgodTzsApw

  5. Rudy, I can hardly wait for the song you come up with using belligerent and jock....lol
  6. I didn't even know it existed. I will definitely check it out. Thanks
  7. I thought that was funny too..but if I had to string guitars all day, I would go for it.
  8. Good and practical thread. I like the following video from Taylor Guitars:
  9. That sounds absolutely amazing! Not to mention one of my favorite songs too!
  10. Thanks. It is a bit campy, but what the heck...it was fun.
  11. Very nice song and performance. Man, I wish I could sing like that! Hope it goes crazy on the internet. Good job! Tony
  12. One of the best set of lessons I ever took was FREE - on coursera.com. Pat Pattison professor at Berklee College of Music does a songwriting class. It takes a bit of work and time, but I learned a whole lot. I need to go back over that material again. https://www.coursera.org/learn/songwriting/ tony
  13. Ok, first draft for the challenge....I know a couple of lines may not be true to the challeng (like in the bridge) but... KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY STUFF VERSE 1: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING? ARE YOU CRAZY? HAVE YOU GONE INSANE? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU’RE FOOLING? YOU BE READY FOR A WORLD OF PAIN WHEN YOU PLAY WITH FIRE, GONNA GET YOURSELF BURNED YOU’RE SUCH A LIAR, AREN’T YOU EVER GONNA LEARN YOU FILTHY, SNEAKY, DIRTY ROTTEN SWINE THAT LAST DONUT WAS MINE! CHORUS: KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF ALL OF MY STUFF I’VE BEEN PATIENT BUT I’VE HAD ENOUGH BETTER STOP BEFORE I FINALLY GET ROUGH KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF MY STUFF VERSE 2: MAYBE YOU THINK IT’S FUNNY GET A LIFE, MAYBE GROW A BRAIN I SURE AIN’T MADE OF MONEY SEEMS IT’S ALWAYS GOING UP IN FLAMES YOU GOT ME STRESSING, GOT MY HEAD IN MY HANDS I JUST DON’T GET IT, WON’T YOU TRY TO UNDERSTAND THIS SITUATION IS ALL KIND OF WRONG THE TOILET PAPER’S ALL GONE CHORUS BRIDGE: YOU’VE BEEN USING MY THINGS, BUT YOU DON’T PAY NO RENT IT’S COSTING ME DOLLARS, BUT IT MAKES NO SENSE I’M NOT YOUR MOMMA, I’M NOT TELLING YOU AGAIN…. CHORUS
  14. I would love challenges as long as they weren't too long like an entire song - But certain writing exercises would be great. Tony
  15. Yes, that's why I got the full package. For the money it was amazing how many instruments and plugins I got. Only cost me around $165 american ./
  16. My main reason for choosing Mixcraft was a balance of a couple of things. First, my nephew who now works in a sound studio told me that Pro Tools was the only thing to get but I am very new at recording/mixing music and with 7 kids couldn't justify the cost to the wife (the REAL reason...haha). I had a lite version of Ableton Live Lite that came with my Focusrite interface but found that I spent more time trying to figure out the complexity (like I said, I'm new) of the program then recording and mixing. Got frustrated and took the fun out of it. I agree that if you are very serious about doing this for a living you should invest and get the best you can afford. However, I can dream about doing this for a living but am honest enough to realize that ain't going to happen anytime soon. As I have been able to spend more time recording and learning mixing by actually doing it verses getting frustrated at the complexity of the DAW I am learning much more faster! I can see in the future that as I grow in music so will the need for better and more powerful tools. Just a rookie's perspective. Tony
  17. My brain got a cramp just thinking about how to pull that off!
  18. Ok...I'm officially to stupid to play this game anymore...
