I really didn't know how to phrase the title, so let me explain.
I know the key to "making it" is to always be busy, writing/recording/promoting/playing live as often as you can/networking, you know all that good stuff.
But other than competitions like the Voice, American Idol etc, are there any sources/sites etc to apply in a more traditional way for jobs? Kind of how I and many other musicians use sites like craigslist, but are there sites where already professional bands/organizations etc use to advertise? Or like jobs such as studio musicians, jingle singers etc?
I guess I'm thinking how I use indeed.com to search for academic/non-music jobs, especially "career" jobs tied to my college major, but there seems to be nothing similar for music. If you search music terms on indeed really all you get is music teacher/education job postings and like choir directors for churches.
Now obviously I'm fine "hustling" but it'd be nice if there was at least the opportunity to apply for jobs in the industry that are either a livable wage or a very good wage that just playing/performing at night could cover the other half, especially considering that I work hard for the objective/technical qualities of my chosen instrument (voice) and wish there was a way to "audition/apply" the same way you can for "normal" jobs.
Thanks!
