first thing that comes to mind is the opening of The Pot by Tool. A Capella worls really well there. ive never done it, not out of of fear or anything, but because i havent written anything i think it will work for i remember when i was doing Higher Music at high school, one of the questions in the exam was 'The saxophone is being played______', you had to fill in the blanks after listening to the piece, one of the options was A Cappela, another was Arco... they must think we suck. (the answer was Ad-Lib iirc)

i dont think anyone on this site is That Guy. but once some people i kinda know, and almost wish i didnt, formed a System Of A Down cover band called Nuke The Whales. their vocalist was That Guy. But maybe only because no one can do it like Serj Tankian. (they lasted 3 weeks and had 2 gigs, neither of which was enjoyed by anyone)

wasnt meant to be touchy i do give consideration to these things. Jon didnt mention any of these things. Jon mentioned hooks. if these things *are* defined as hooks then forgive me, to me when ppl talk about hooks i think about sections/words meant to keep ppl listening, like a physical hook if you will. if Jon did mention these things, then my browser is displaying the list as "Hooks", and maybe i should get some cream for it. ^^ not said like a twat.

i dont think about hooks. that does not mean there are not parts in my lyrics/music which are either repeated or have notable dominance. there is. not because i want to use that section/line as something to keep the listener listening, but because thats what best lets me get across my point. i dont think 'hmm, ill put that bit in there again, cos thats my hook' i write what comes into my head, if thats 'alive' thirty two times ( as it is in one AoK song i wrote) then so be it. alive is a very strange word. also: im not one for lies. i despise deceit, and believe that if we put up fewer walls and embraced vunerability then maybe less kids would stab other kids... maybe. so, i wouldnt have said i dont think about hooks, if i thought about hooks.

what if its just called music? i tend to see vocals as having equal importance as any other instrument in the piece, and i write music which supports that. and imo theres no such thing as a 'bad' voice. theres voices i wouldnt use yeah, but im sure they have a niche somewhere. maybe im just an optimist, but i doubt it. (see what i did there??)

i dont think about stuff like that when writing music/lyrics i write what i need to write, if ppl want to spend time noting hooks or patterns in it then so be it, im not gonna indulge it though. each to their own and onwards.

well today i was supposed to be writing a Noise Article, that was my plan. But things got a little overwhelming... 10am - Drove to a Bar/Resturaunt to have a meeting about doing a possible performance there, sorted out a few things 10:20am - Began drive home, turned off roundabout and had to pull in to side as my accelerator...wasnt doing. Realised my car was in fact broken. 10:30am - walked back to bar to use their phone because mine had no credit, phoned dad and said 'phone me back...now' walked back to roundabout 11am - gave up on dad phoning me and presumed he wasnt able to for whatever reason, last time that happened he just came to where he knew i was and dealt with any problems 1:15pm - figured dad was busy but had probably left by now *still standing at roundabout* 2pm - sat down 3pm - decided it was a lot cause, went to get all my valuables out of my locked car abandoned on the road and went and bought 5 mars bars and some water 3:30pm - started walking home, munching mars bars to keep me going 6:15pm - finally someone nice enough stopped and asked where i was going, she had seen me at 'a roundabout' on the way to work, and was now coming back and couldn't cope with just driving past knowing i had been walking for hours 6:30pm - got home, i had walked 15 of the 21 miles from the bar 6:45pm - left with dad to get car 7:10pm - car all fixed 7:30pm- turned on computer and wrote this eventually so...sorry, i'll do it tomorrow, if nothing else horrible happens.
