    Do you subscribe to the idea that the verses of your song should be very specific and detail oriented, while the choruses are more general? I've always thought that was a great and organized way to write and I've heard it taught this way many times. On the other hand, I've heard Springsteen say he approaches things the opposite of this. What do you think?

    When writing a song, do you prefer writing a song with a chorus, (like an ABABCB format) or one without a chorus that uses a refrain (like an AABA song)? I find myself typically writing choruses, but I think it's good to change things up when you write. Helps you grow as a writer

    Yeah, good call on Johnny Cash. That was pretty cool, and definitely a fitting style for that song. And regarding always thinking the original is better --I think that's just because we tend to like what we hear first. It becomes the norm, so it comes off as better.
