Hey guys^^ it's been a around a year since I've last posted in this site. Back then, it was songs but I am back with a poetry piece. I hope to know what you guys think about this short work of mine! Thank you guys for reading~ The wind blows, windows rattle The moon light shined veranda of my abode Time stooped by slowly steadily I stood before the soul less frame Wondering why he stood so plain Rising his stone flat grimace His head dropped I asked him, "What had you done? To stand with gore." Frightened at the sight he bore, I tugged my conscience recall. No longer could bare I punched the entity ahead. It broke, pieces shattered The shining silver reflector.

Hi, everyone! Right now I'm trying to get the hang of mixing piano/keyboards and pads/strings. I look on 'keyboards'n'pads' as a kinda alien version of 'piano'n'strings' at the moment, I write them both the same way. (I'm New Age btw!) I just can't mix them afterwards for love nor money. And believe you me I've tried both! Now I know I could just send them off somewhere and they'd come back as a perfect (albeit expensive!) mix. But I wanna know how to do it. I want to see my own pieces through from beginning to being sent off somewhere with regards to being placed (I can dream!) or put on a CD or YouTube or similar. I flatter myself I can compose the things (OK I'm NOT Mozart!) but I can't mix the pads in afterwards. Drums/bass - passable in the mix. Strings - I patiently try for days. Every so often one works passably. So I do the same things to the next one I did to the passable one - abject failure and I can never see why. I'd love to submit a piece - only 3 minutes of it - with abysmally mixed strings to one of the forums just so someone could tell me firstly what I'm doing wrong with this one and secondly - could I use the advice I get for this one as general advice for ALL piano'n'strings pieces. In other words, if I got this one right according to advice given, would I be able to use the same advice for the ton of previous ones I've written or is it all so individual you can't do that? The problem with reading books on mixing, which I have done, is that they tell you what everything DOES, but not when to use what and why. And that's the part I'm not getting. I know what EQ, panning, compression and everything DO, but when I try to use it, it aint happening. Right now I use Edirol Orchestral because I actually understand that. I know there's free Kontakt libraries with magnificent sounds in but I can't make simple Edirol work, I got no chance with those things currently. Besides, I've heard New Age CDs with worse sounds than Edirol on - but the mixers knew how to make the sounds 'fit'. Could someone help me learn how to do that? Well, that's why I'm here! Yours respectfully Chris.

Hi all!! So please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste... Well, not really (at least the wealth part). So what can I say about myself? I'm a singer/songwriter, and I've been involved in music for over a decade, mostly playing in several bands. I have over 150 songs written, and now I feel its time to try to take my songs to the next level, both songwriting and comercial/exposure-wise. My musical tastes revolve mostly around pop (understanding pop as well crafted, structured songs, with great melodies and hooks). So rock/pop, country/pop, latin/pop, etc. are all right up my alley. I've been lurking around these forums for quite some time, and finally today I summed up the courage to join. I'm here basically to talk music, meet other songwriters, get feedback on my songs, and hopefully collaborate with some of the great musicians here. So, nice to meet y'all, thanks for having me!

Hi, I'm brittani! I'm 19, I play ukulele, and decided to recently try writing my own music. I'm here for blunt criticism. I'm not scurrrrrred lol. Anyway, I'm a really cool person. I like video games, reading, Walking Dead, anime, and just music altogether. I've been playing ukulele for about 3 years now and every day I improve even more! I usually just do covers but I would like to start writing my own music. Anyway, hi everyone! Feel free to talk to me. I'm awesome, I promise! :3

Hey Songwriters: Joey Hendrickson here. I founded the Columbus Songwriters Association in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio, and have been on mission to understand how and why songwriters connect, and to help all of us do it better. Interested in being apart of this songwriting community. Amazing time we live today, where songwriters around the world can come together. In our hometown, 150 songwriters have banded together to prove to our city that local music can be valuable to local business. We've had coffee shops, and pizza shops, and leather shops, and music shops, and all sorts of local shops begin to believe in us, support us at events, and allow us to distribute CDs within their retail spaces, for free. I've set out to do a couple of other projects too, to help our city connect with the music industry at large. One project is a music publishing documentary. I've attached a photo below of our interview with Stephen Finfer in Los Angeles this October. Stephen owns Arthouse Entertainment, including artist brands and music catalogues for songs by Katy Perry, Jonas Brothers, Cee Lo Green, Green Day, Miley Cyrus, and many more. Stephen and David Hirshland from BMG Chrysalis, as well as Chris Tyng from Futurama, VP of SESAC in Los Angeles, Kamal Moo music attorney, Head of Sync Licensing at Crush Management, and several others involved with Billboard Music and Television met with me to talk about the emerging effects of localized music and how music publishing really works today. I'm excited to share this learning with songwriters in the Midwest through the documentary we'll be releasing. But more important, I'm excited to connect with songwriters on new forums like this, have conversations, and share tools that help us all stay inspired and motivated to create music. Let's connect. Hi all, Doing the first post thing, I am basically working on an indie dance project with occasional forays into IDM. Hitting the wall on a lot of tracks these days at the arrangement stage and would love some guidance from members with a bit of success in these or similar genres, particularly with regard to the thought processes and methods that lead to successful compositions.
