  2. + I picture this has an uptempo country song. Any critique would be helpful . HEARTLAND ©2016 by ESK . I like NASCAR . I like fast cars A 4-speed bucket seat time machine I like hay rides . I like high dives An old tire swing hanging over a stream I like mud tires . I like bon fires An old tin roof under a summers rain I like school plays . Show and tell days The sounds of a schoolyard baseball game -------------(Chorus)---------- Living in the heartland By the Grace of Gods master plan I respect my Back Bay genealogy And I love that southern hospitality I tip my hat to our northern friends And I love driving west till the highway ends Doesn’t matter where you’ve been The Bible Belt will welcome you back in ------------------------------------------------- I like car hops . Old time barber shops Parking my truck on the square I like faded blue jeans . Cheering on pageant queens Spending my paycheck at the county fair I like Clapton’s slow hand. A rockin’ little house band Motown soul from 1962 I like a little romance . I like to do a slow dance A belly rubbin’ ballad by Chris LeDoux --------- repeat chorus ------- Houses of stone , wood and bricks Lunch at noon, dinner at six Rotary meetings down at Rose’s Café Church Of God’s Sunday social buffet There’s something about the heartland You have to live it at first hand It’s more than a map or geography It’s a state of mind and your philosophy -------fade....out...... chorus.........------
  3. Hi there everyone - here's my new track 'Changeover'. It's about old cinemas, love and running away. Still officially in demo form and needs a bit of fine tuning but see what you think. Any feedback most welcome. Lyrics Fire dancing on the lawn Burning for far too long Words on the pavement say where the day went wrong Curves redirecting light Dream that I had last night Watched as you drowned, I fell to the ground and cried In her head she'll always find that every day he takes the time To share with her the latest sounds and take her all around the town It doesn't have to be like this, it's easily felt but easily missed I can't recall the things I felt and that's why I need saving from myself Found what it's meant to be Can't trust myself to speak I've never been better, you never get to see Here's what they say they've found There's someone to turn it around I've checked and there's really not - to Australia! The highway in my head is jammed with things that I can't get around And she's just squirming in her seat and waiting for her turn to speak My aspiration's taking flight when you're the biggest star in my adventures that I had last night, a film strip running right behind my eyes The highway in my head is jammed with things that I can't get around I'm making sweet recovery from scenes where she discovers me My aspiration's taking flight when you're the biggest star in my adventures that I had last night, a film strip running right behind my eyes
  4. Hey everyone! We will be wrapping up production of 2 of our songs here pretty soon and I thought I'd throw this one out there to see what you think and if there are any small suggestions for tweaking it to sound as best it can. I'm particularly interested in thoughts about the piano later in the song (I think it's a touch too loud and/or muddy sounding and might need to be re-recorded in another take). Also curious about the doubling of my voice in the same place and if it's nice or annoying Here is a link to the page both songs are on - but again, the one i'm particularly interested in right now is The Favorite Place... http://www.undertheoakmusic.com/#!listen/c12an Thanks so much for listening and sharing any thoughts you might have! 5. Here's a song about a guy who tries internet dating. What works? What doesn't work? 6. Hi guys, it's been a long long time since I posted here. This is a new project, first track completed yesterday. I co-wrote this with Jay Brown. It is performed by Jay Brown & Lewis Rumney, produced & mixed by Mattie Foulds at Caribou Recording. https://soundcloud.com/user-497945870/say-the-right-words
  7. This is a song that I wrote a few years ago but set to a new melody. The first version was more of a rock song; this one is more country. What works and what doesn't? Thanks! The Storm Well I met her late one night at Herman's Hideaway, I came in from the cold blowing snow She was sitting with her friend at a table near the stage Listening to the song playing slow, oh She watched me brush the snow off the top of my head And laughed in little when I caught her eye I was new in town but I was certain of one thing I was going to make that girl mine all mine Chorus: Oh, little Susie I'm wonderin' how you've been It's been two long years and the storm has locked me in again. Well, I'd just come in from Dallas not lot to lose Sometimes you feel you're wasting away It eats your soul and spirit at most every turn And hurts so bad, you know you can't stay. Too many hotels and roads leading nowhere Too many dreams washed out to sea *pause* A sunny day that never seemed to end A feeling that just won't let me be (chorus)
  8. I've been trying to 'get to know', my software and the production end of all this. The lone performer (or maybe one other) is what I love, I'll never have the big, full orchestration going on but I do want to make what I do sound as full as I can get it while not making it sound muddy. I'm slowly learning, and have a long way to go (which is why I only post partials and rough drafts). As I learn (I hope I can learn), I'll post a more finished production. Right now, your input helps me with the next one in the pipeline. Thanks for all your help. https://soundcloud.com/danidog-1/cold-wind-blowing-in-mly-mind
  9. Wrote this a few months ago. 2 guitars, vocal and percussion. [soundcloud/][soundcloud] Lyrics Let's drive west across the great divide. Out to California where the hipsters all reside. We'll see hipsters on patrol, watching starlets on a stroll. As we're rolling down Sunset on the cruise control. And it's allllllllll right. as Tasty as a warm sweet roll. Hang on tight. We're moving at the speed of light. Let's drive north up to Half Moon Bay. Word's getting round there's a swell on the way. I'll grab a 9' 10" gun from Jeff Clark's shop. on a wing and a prayer I'll make the drop. And it's allllllllll right. as Tasty as a warm sweet roll. Hang on tight. We're moving at the speed of light. Drive up to Frisco in a top down ride. It's summer in the city but it's cold outside. We'll drive across the bridge and at the turn of the tide, head back across the Great Divide. And it's allllllllll right. as Tasty as a warm sweet roll. Hang on tight. We're moving at the speed of light.
  10. Greetings! I'm a songwriter but not a performer (other than an occasional open mic). I'd like to write for band. Here are a few of my latest songs. They're a little rough, but like I said, I'm not a performer. My style is Americana/country/folk/roots rock... The Well Runs Dry https://soundcloud.com/benjaminstoller/well-runs-dry-the Lead or Gold Oreanna https://soundcloud.com/benjaminstoller/oreanna I have more that are in the works and am fairly prolific. Please contact me if you are interested in collaborating. Ben stollermusic@gmail.com
  11. Hey guys. I've finally finished the recording of my album. Two years in the making. I owe a lot of gratitude to you guys for the feedback and helping me make it better. Anyhoo, here's the last song I've recorded for it. I'd appreciate any and all feedback, critique, or comments. Thank you! In the after hours the CB never sleeps I was never one for judging the company it keeps We mostly eat in silence and go our separate ways yesterday a stranger raised a hand to wave and I guess I would be lonely if that were all there really is Chorus If I could sleep all the way to lydalisk would I wake up in the comfort of your arms how many nights I dreamed of your sweet kiss but in my mind I'm on my way, the way to lydalisk If you change the dial, something comes across some say it's static, never grows no moss gotta keep the wheels in between the lines must be getting somewhere following the signs and I think, there's something out there as I climb another ridge Chorus Bridge Com'on love, fight like a man You've got to give me something I can understand I could drive all night, and I just might, If I don't find someplace to land Chorus
  12. This is a remix of one I did a few months ago.comments and critique appreciated ROAD OF UNCERTAINTY the sun is slowly peeping through the curtain sweat is beading on my brow last night I drank away my hurtin' this morning it don't matter anyhow I feel in love with you before I got to know you I guess it's true that love is blind but I kept thinking that I could change you the only thing I changed was my mind now you're there when I'm here you're so far when I'm near you're always out when I'm in and a mile may as well be a hundred miles for I know I'll never see you again now I can think of a few good reasons but I'm not the one to place the blame maybe it's the changing of the seasons maybe it's the season for a change I'm traveling down that road of uncertainty I ventured too far to go back home now I just don't know what's gonna become of me all I know is that it can't be long now you're there when I'm here you're so far when I'm near you're always out when I'm in and a mile may as well be a hundred miles for I know I'll never see you again written and arranged by Toney Wright Stu Pendergast...lead guitar https://soundcloud.com/toney-wright
  13. This is the first song I ever wrote...a long time ago, about a month before my 20th birthday. I've tweaked it some over the years but the concept is still the same. https://soundcloud.com/toney-wright/bury-me-in-my-levis-acoustic BURY ME IN MY LEVIS I never wore no tuxedo and I guess I never will I prefer to wear the clothes that come from a cotton field never cared much for material things my needs are cut and dry I love old guitars with strings that ring fishing and a clear blue sky bury me in my Levis bury me in my Levis don't put no suit and tie on me you know that's not how I ride bury me in my Levis bury me in my Levis please don't shed no tears for me I'll see you on the other side don't put me in no big cemetery don't give me no fancy tombstone I wanna die just like I live I wanna go with my boots on plant me under a tall pine tree beneath that southern sky have Ramblin' Jack sing a song for me smile and just say goodbye bury me in my Levis bury me in my Levis don't put no suit and tie on me you know that's not how I ride bury me in my Levis bury me in my Levis please don't shed no tears for me I'll see you on the other side Toney N Wright
  14. THE WAY I LOVE YOU I love you like the sunshine I love you like a harvest moon I love you (yes I do) like the spring time when the honeysuckles are in bloom I love you like a cool breeze I love you like a mountain spring I love you (yes I do) like the sunset when the whippoorwill sings bridge darling you know I don't talk that much it just ain't my style I gotta say that I love you so much oh baby you make me smile stay with me a while I love you like a summer rain I love you like a freight train that's the way I love you written and arranged by Toney Wright vocals Toney Wright guitar Stu Pendergast https://soundcloud.com/toney-wright
  15. This is a newer song, the product of many a long night's worth of driving through dark city streets, sleeping towns, and crooked backroads. Lyrics: My boots tracking Kentucky mud on the solemn roads of Ohio The headlights keep me up walking all night You said no matter how far I would go the same sun would burn us both So I cut all ties with your light And I crossed the Little Darby in the pouring rain Wet on wet and I'm freezing The sky slipped into a sultry night I awoke with the crows in the sunshine Met a man outside Pittsburgh Who slept with the dogs under a bridge He said he left half of his hands on the factory floor He said he still felt the sometimes Still cracked his knuckles in daydream and his hardhat was still on display somewhere And I crossed the Alleghany in the pouring rain Wet on wet and I'm freezing But those wild dogs would have kept on following had I not crossed the stream
  16. negative thoughts I finally figured out this morning that you been messing around on me I can't say it came without warning I guess I was just too blind in love to see you come up with these ol' off the wall excuses 'bout why you did not show again last night I want to believe everything you tell me deep down I know that something just ain't right I tried so hard to be optimistic these negative thoughts keep burning in my brain I think it's time I became realistic about you babe and say goodbye to your cheating game I can tell that the distance between us is growing farther and farther everyday the space in our bed seems so enormous your side seems so far away you slam the door to let me know you're leaving I don't even try to make you stay I don't mind to hear your tires squealing it's better than the jail house anyday I tried so hard to be optimistic these negative thoughts keep burning in my brain I think it's time I became realistic about you babe and say goodbye to your cheating game now I just can't go on believing I done heard all your alibis I finally caught on to your deceiving now I can see right through your lying eyes the truth is coming through a little clearer since I finally got this smoke out of my mind I had me a talk with the man in the mirror he said it's time to move on down the line repeat chorus lyrics by Toney Wright and Chris Hatley music by Toney Wright lead guitar...Stu Pendergast https://soundcloud.com/toney-wright
  17. a comical take on getting older WHEN YOU GET A LITTLE OLDER when you get a little older you get a little slower you get a little broader too looks like father time is slowly sneaking up on you and it's so hard to do those easy things you used to do when you get a little older and get a little slower and get a little broader too I know this armchair quaterback with a belly made of beer and he's quick to tell you all about his glory years what once was a rifle arm now is kinda lame but he can still sling that ball on his son's video game when you get a little older you get a little slower you get a little broader too looks like father time is slowly sneaking up on you and it's so hard to do those easy things you used to do when you get a little older and get a little slower and get a little broader too I saw a girl the other day that I used to know but, she don't look the way she did all those years ago what once looked like an hour glass now looks kinda round now she's in an aerobics class trying to drop forty pounds repeat chorus written and arranged by Toney Wright vocals Toney Wright guitar Stu Pendergast https://soundcloud.com/toney-wright

  20. So either i've been blacklisted from the site or posting in the members only section (accidentally) has held my song back (I haven't had any responses). Anyway I was just wondering what you think about this song. Do you like it... hate it...think its ok? Its a home recording so if you have any feedback in that department I'm all ears. Really, just let it rip Blew out the candels turned out the lights For forty days and forty nights Thats how long its been since she took the light away And Im going down where crying doesnt make a sound Down in the underground the underground Underground Out there the world goes by my door And I don't raise my head up anymore I want nothing ever again to do with that sweet misery Im going down where crying doesnt make a sound Down in the underground the underground the underground I've seen a darkness you people will never know I've been down to the bottom of a bottomless hole Cause I miss her. Yeah I miss her oh I miss her And I'm going down I won't be coming round anymore I'm going down I'll see you on the other side
