  1. Rite of the Undertaker

Hey guys I'm back, I was busy with school so I wasn't active here for a good few months but now that its summer and I have more free time I'm trying to be more involved in the community. Anyways, here's a song I made up just recently, Rite of the Undertaker, and I was hoping to get feedback mostly on it's composition and melody and stuff like that. It's played purely on classical guitar so there's not much I can do in the way of sound or recording quality. Any and all critique is greatly appreciated and I would love to hear your thoughts!
  2. I made music using the crying laughing emoji! 😂 This is my first attempt at creating a MIDI drawing that actually sounds good. It ended up being an epic orchestral piece with jazzy chords! What do you think? 👌🏼💯🔥
  3. Hi all, I would really like to use the following track: "Erik Satie - gymnopedie no 2" for a little short animation piece. I can't find anyone that I should contact in order to get permission to use this track. I was hoping to find out if anyone on here knows how to get permission for this track. thank you in advance!
  4. Here is the new updated version, with some tweaks: I am starting to work on my orchestral composition skills, feel free to critique it as hard as you can(Only if you want to!) My intent was to make a very Film-Score-esq kind of piece, as I am considering learning more about film scoring.

  6. Hi All, I've been writing songs for a while and I wanted to get an opinion on my music. The quality of this recording is pretty average but I'd love to get some opinions on the song itself...do you like the style of music, are the lyrics clichéd, is the music too repetitive, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYYmG2JjeGY If you could give it a look and provide an opinion (not a troll) or constructive criticism that would be great. Thanks a bunch!
  7. "Every Moment With You" - Original My second original composition. Youtube: SoundCloud: The story of this song is basically, every moment you spend with the one you love should be precious. Every second, every minute, every hour because the future is unpredictable. You don't know what will happen tomorrow, next week or next year. I'm open to any critiques so fire! Don't be afraid to tell what lacked in the song and e.t.c.. How is the dynamic and range? How about the melody? So any critiques would do! Enjoy!
  8. Into The Mist

  13. Hey there. I just have a few quick questions about composition. Intros: I always get stuck on the beginning of my songs! I will usually try to start with a simple riff/melody fade-in that becomes more complex later in the song. Any tips on how to get a dynamic and audibly pleasing intro? Outros: I usually just start decomposing (funny pun) the song by making the various sounds fade out until it is a simple melody again, which I then fade out slowly. I feel like there is a better way to end my tracks other than just systematically removing sounds/instruments until it is the main melody. I don't know how else to end my songs without making it sound uncomfortably abrupt. Transitions: This is the worst! I have two melodies that I want to smoothly transition between but I end up with a less-than-acceptable mess of changes in the flow of the piece. I usually use a drum solo accompanied by an extended note in order to transition between melodies, but it never sounds that great. How do I get a clean transition without ruining the flow of the song? Mastering: This one is simple. What effects (reverb, lo-fi, delay, etc.) do you think should generally be applied to specific instruments for the best quality overall? Sorry if this post is in the wrong place. I'm new! I'm really only looking for tips and tricks that more experienced producers would use. As a side note: I have a wide variety of VSTs, but I mainly use soundfonts for basic instruments and drums. Should I not use soundfonts?

  17. Fantasy Orchestration, Riverside Village

Hello all, I'm a singer that is also interested in musical composition, and orchestration. As I am very much into fantasy, most of my work is related to it. Recently I wrote and released an orchestration called "Riverside Village" and I want to see what people think of it. Any critique is appreciated! Also this is my first song with a new program I have, so my songs will get better with more experience writing with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58mYI6_QlZA Thanks and I hope you have a good day! Larson, "PrecentralGyrus"
  18. I have been playing drums for 10 years and have played with many different artists and wrote many original songs in a collaborative musical setting ( >=3 band members), and I am wondering what methods or techniques you (as an original song-writing group/band) are using to create and write your original music? Personally, my band have always began writing a few songs at once and rotated the writing process to keep the ideas fresh until we finished a song or two. Then we'd move on to writing new original material and at the same time practice the finished songs until tight, followed by more creating, writing, and composition of new songs. I'm wondering if you have used any "methods" or "writing schedules" to help focus your band on finishing songs in a decent amount of time while maintaining high professional quality of songs and structure, instead of those great ideas that get left behind and collect dust. My current band has gigs lined up and we have great material, but I feel like our band members are somewhat out of sync and we are lacking motivation to complete some great ideas we have kicking around. Any thoughts? Any recommended techniques? How does your brand write music? Thanks in advance!
