  1. Hi all. I've been working a funk tune. I've been experimenting with distilling that 70s soul/funk vibe, but then put it into a modern EDM-type production. I hope this comes across as such? Let me know what you think of it. I've posted the lyrics, but they're of secondary importance. So unless something is completely off with them, I'd appreciate feedback on anything that might stick out as wrong with the music or production. Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/will-sketches/superking-electro-funk-remix Chorus/hook: If I do that one thing Can I be your superking If I do that one thing Can I be your everything Verse: Look at you, I'm getting excited Standing in the bus I love your shoes, to dance all night in Just the two of us I feel your breath all over my body Your perfume fills the air And tonight you have decided To let me take you there
  2. Hi everyone! I've been recording another one of my songs. This one is a bit more up-tempo. There's certain things I'm not yet completely happy with, mainly related to the vocals. I would love to hear your comments/opinions/feedback on anything from the arrangement, production, or mix. Is there anything that sticks out that sounds wrong? Thanks! https://soundcloud.com/will-sketches/love-right-now-new-demo

  5. Hi, A new song from me. It's not a final mix by any means, so any comments about that would be appreciated, plus any other comments about any other aspect of the song. Thanks https://soundcloud.com/topaz-bon/mosquito-bite/s-AGjU6 One more mosquito bite A problem for me to fight One more mosquito bite That soon, soon, soon will be gone will be gone it will be gone Oh I get so many problems And they cut me up inside It don’t matter what I do They get on up and ride my mind Consume my time There is no end I see no sign I gotta fix them I gotta fix these problems I gotte fix them and clear my mind Chorus It seems there’s no solution I cannot sleep at night next day is all confusion and so I feel like I’m unreal Like I’m not there I fall asleep inside my chair I’m in a hole now No way to go now I wanna get out And clear my mind A problem aired is a problem shared A problem aired is a problem shared Mosquito Mosquito Mosquito bite One more mosquito bite A problem for me to fight
  6. I wear my influences on my sleeve when it comes to the stuff I write. This one, with an "Addictive" groove from my mate Adrian (DontLookListen on SoundCloud) lent itself to a fusion of the Nile style guitar and a little chili pepper...Adrian arranged and produced the original with horns and keys, but this is my stripped back funk-rock rendition with a new vocal. Deliberate nod and a wink to Nina in the fade too, she's been with my since childhood. Dawn Chorus Asking for a favour, but nothing left to say Churning up my insides still I hoped that I could stay Making out the liar was the one who told the tales Pushing back the limits 'cause they're really in my way I can't take the pressure in the morning But at night I know you'll tell me how to change I can't face the day without a dawning Would it be so hard for you to play, yeah You won't find me at daybreak Leaving now the light has come, such an easy way to go Don't turn your head I'm making my escape Got to know the time is right now that morning's come Asking for a favour, still nothing else to say Turning my down insights still I hoped that I could pray Making out the liar was the one who told the tales Pushing on those limits 'cause they're really in my way No, you won't find me at daybreak I'm leaving now the light has come, such a lazy way to go Don't turn your head I'm making my escape Got to know the time is right now the morning's come... Addictive drum groove - Adrian Hillier @dontlooklisten Words & Music - Dave Bradley @sciencebase Vocals, guitar and bass - DB Arranged and produced by DB with AH
  7. This jam was built over a cut-up loop of Beck's "Corvette Bummer" and Sly & The Family Stone's "Thank You For Talking To Me Africa." Once I had recorded the guitars, I silenced the loop and added drums with my Alesis SR-16. Of the guitars, three are run through my Q-tron wah pedal (including the bass), but the distorted guitar is not. I added effects, mostly reverb, in Cool Edit Pro 2.1. Let me know how you think my guitar performances sound. I'm rather new to expressive playing. Enjoy! Thanks. E/S https://soundcloud.com/derek-ryan-hain/january-30-2014
  8. This is my first collaboration in here, and hopefully I'll make more collaborations with Mr Lance Toohey and other lyricists here! The music, arrangements, vocals and guitars are by myself. Here it is: I hope you enjoy it! TOMORROW STARTS TONIGHT I can hear it in the way you talk things that you don't say You're just going through the motions livin' day to day I can feel it in the way we share our lives are not the same We rarely give we rarely care yeah we are both to blame. I can't go on livin' this life where no one cares Babe we gotta get back to that time when love was there Let's talk about tomorrow let's try and make it right Let's start right here let's start right now tomorrow starts tonight. Tomorrow starts tonight babe yeah tomorrow starts anew But tonight we gotta see if we can find a new way through Tomorrow's not a promise babe but tonight's the place to start Let's try to find if we still live in each other's heart. Tomorrow starts tonight... Spoken words: Don't hide behind that wall of doubt don't hide there anymore Grab your coat and car keys let's head on out that door Let's pretend that we've just met pretend its our first date Let's start again start tonight and pray it's not too late Yeah, grab your coat and car keys let's head on out that door You mean too much to me to let you doubt me anymore You mean too much to me... Jazz Dialogue © Lance W Toohey Lyrics

  11. Hello Everyone we have been working on this one for the last week. any critique on how it could be improved would be much appreciated Lyrics below. https://soundcloud.com/ttrout-1/sleepwalking They live to deceive Take your pride Suck your soul Til your withered in a hole Choice that's a lie Our voices are denied We're bought and sold By God who knows Why should we take it lying down. We prayed for change So they sent us a flood of fear To keep the meek weak And put the strong down A curse upon us if we ever stand up Change, that's just a dirty word So they take And take some more We're on our knees Their oblivious whores They just do What they please Just lay down You don't deserve to be free We're sleepwalking
  12. Hi, Here is a short Blues piece I wrote for electric piano. Let me know what you think. Should I turn it into a song? https://soundcloud.com/voxanima/blue-hallways Thanks!
  13. I've pulled together various of my original songs under the banner "Uncovered" (Covered and Naked Instrumentals are my other two SoundCloud sets, just so you get the idea). I was quite pleased with this one I wrote and recorded in a few home recording sessions back in February. This is another of my stream of consciousness singing things, where the words just spilled out in the first take and I transcribed them and gave them a tweak for the final recording...toally avoiding anything Peartesque in this latest version. I really don't know what they're about (Domestic violence? Bar brawls? Both? Never been involved in the former but have narrowly escaped the latter once or twice). Take it on the chin (again) There's a time and a place for a smooth escape When the fighting starts and the glasses break But, the chances are you just have to fight When the glances crack, there's no wrong nor right We don't keep the things that we utter In words we can hide what we mean We're all of us earning our bread and butter But some of us take one for the team If you fight like a man, you have to learn to take it On the chin or on your feet There's a home and a place it's a soothing escape When the fighting stops and you had your last scrape If only I could heal it or see I could find a way home If you can't stand up and fight it Then the nest it will be you'll have flown We don't keep the things that we utter In secrets we hide what we mean We're all of us earning our bread and butter But some of us take one for the team There's a time and a place for a smooth escape When the fighting starts and the glasses break If only I could feel it or see it through I know that I could chance it I could make it with you
