  1. Hey GUYS & GIRLS, My name is Brandon. I'm from Nashville, TN. I wanted to try a forum out to offer any advice that I might have to help you guys and maybe learn a thing or two. I've been all over the world touring professionally for 15 years now. So, whatever you guys want to know or I can help just let me know! I'm a musician first and learning the ways of being an entrepreneur at the same time. My first A-list band I played for was a band called Evanescence. Before you get to excited, I was never a member. I was the funny dude that got to hang with the band in 2003-04 that got to play guitar every once in awhile. From there I've played with Frank Sinatra Jr., Kris Allen (American Idol), and even my own project for Fox's America's Next Greatest Band...It Sucked! Then moved to Nashville! Since then I've been the Christian music genre playing for Sidewalk Prophets, City Harbor, Royal Tailor, Wavorly, to name a few. Then a couple of years ago I wanted to try country. I played with Brandon Lay (Universal Recording Group) and currently playing with Olivia Lane (Big Spark). I own Tour Solutions & Agency. We are a head-hunting agency that seeks musicians and tour personnel for touring commercial artists and managements. Basically, Kelly Clarkson needs a guitar player and a Front of House guy they call us! New adventure and it has been amazing. We are also in the works for a weekly podcast as a free resource for anybody interested in the music industry. It's called Surviving the Music Industry (SMI). My co-host, business partner, and I have a total of 58+ years in this crazy industry. So we want to be a resource that is useful. We invite guests in all aspects of the industry (Stylists, Models, Guitarists, Artists, Techs, Crew, etc.) and get them to share their crazy stories and give you some insight on how they are surviving working in the industry. We are gearing up to release our first episodes in May of 2016. Below is some more info if your tired of me rambling!! Love to help in any advice that I can offer. Talk to you guys soon! 1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments? What instruments?Guitar, Banjo, Bass, Keyboards, Accordion, Bazooki, Violin...anything with strings When did you start playing?I studied violin at 6 then picked up a guitar at 16/17. I then studied classical guitar i loved it so much. Did you teach yourself?violin...no. Guitar...the early years...yes 2. Are you in a band or bands? What is the name of the band? I currently play for Nashville country/pop artist Olivia Lane What do you play? Lead Guitar What other instruments are in the band? Rhythm guitar, Mando, Bass, Drums, and a ton of Tracks Do you have a band website?....She has one somewhere, eh? 3. Do you write songs? Do you write lyrics, music or both? I love writing. I don't get to do it much these days and i decided to shift my focus on other things. I do have a couple of cuts but nothing lucrative what so ever. Do you have a writing partner? This town is built on co-writes 4. Do you record your music? Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use? I do have a very basic home set up. My gear is mostly used for live playing than the studio. So much gear, so little space. Do you use a recording studio?I do session work from time to time. I get hired a lot to look and play the parts. Do you have music available on the web? if so where? I decided to support other artists a long time ago and it has been very lucrative for me. Their maybe something out there in the abyss. 5. What other roles do you perform in the music business? Management? Label owner? Publishing? Promotion? Other? I own Tour Solutions & Agency and soon Surviving the Music Industry Podcast. 6. Are you a tech head? eh, yes and no. It has to work for me and what i'm currently doing. 7. What country do you live in? USA 8. What are your ambitions? To be a resource for the Music community and to be the best musician entrepreneur i can be! 9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit? No, not really. I work FULL-TIME What are your pastimes?Sports. I like watching just about any sport. But more than anything I love music and people. 10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff? I'd like to meet like minded individuals. Also, I really just want to help anybody that is interested in the music industry. I definitely don't have all the answers. I just have my stories, but I'm happy to share.
  2. Hi all you songwriters and songwritingcritiquers and chameleons and people as well. Have you ever been approached by an old man on the street who told you his life story without much prompting from your side of the conversation? Then you'll know how I feel when I tell you that I like tea, because you probably like tea too. That reminds me; why do anarchists drink herbal tea? The answer, like the answer to most questions, is simpler than you're thinking: it's because all proper tea is theft. I'm sure it seems to you like I've been rambling without any direction or goal, but it's all in fact led to this- me reaching behind your ear and pulling out a small hair. Is this yours? Pleased to meet you! My name's Bashu, like, really, for real, and my game is playing accordion in unexpected places and doing song-a-day challenges. Does anybody like those?
  3. Greetings, fellow musicians and music-lovers alike! 😁 I am a 30-year-old singer-songwriter from Northern NJ who is not only a lover of music, but also: Video games (esp. retro) Movies (esp. comedy and drama) Books (esp. sci-fi, fantasy and some horror) Food/cooking (esp. chicken wings, burgers, hot dogs, soups and stews, etc.) Alcohol (esp. beer, bourbon and malt beverages) And sour candy In addition to singing, I play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and ukulele. I spent most of the last decade trying and failing to get my dream of recording and releasing a collection of my own original music off the ground. In November of 2022, I released my debut studio album "The Season Between Summer and Autumn" under my own name. I'm here to learn more about the right way to promote my music and market it to the right audience. Hopefully also chatting/connecting with some people who appreciate the genres I tackle/what I'm trying to accomplish musically 😜😇
  4. Hi I'm Katie and I have just joined , I am transgender and love and need enjoy writing songs and poems about my journey
  5. Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm just a young rapper/producer who's trying to get better at what i do
  6. Heyo, I'm Lola, I live in Australia and I am 16. So, I just joined here ( well duh ) and I think music is pretty groovy? I'm not sure what to say, WARNING, I may ramble a tad I really like Twenty One Pilots, Frank Iero, Rise Against, MILK TEETH, Cat Empire and, really I could go one for quite some time. I play electric bass, and am teaching myself piano and that's going quite well. I also write lyrics, which are really shitty at the moment but that's why I've joined here, to improve them. I want to make music after I finish school and I want my music to help people, even if it touches just one person and helps them overcome whatever it is they're going through I feel as if that would be a success to me. Feel free to shoot me a message!
  7. Hi im aloproductionz but you can call me dex im from the uk and im 23 years old since a child iv been passionate about music my first instrument I started to play was the keyboard, I would love to mess about with the different preset sounds and play them along with the beats on there I spent a lot of time on there each day. after my older cousin taught me a simple song on the keyboard and challenged me to play it fast and it different adaptions I began wanting to make my own music I started 2 songs on the piano while in primary school and had a few lessons in secondary school but due to going to a bad school class was cancelled and replaced with me crap health and safety.in my spare time I would continue playing a creating music during school my passion for story writing and poetry blossomed I began making music on the computer towards the end of school where after I went on to do a music diploma but dropped out at the end of the second year because it wasn't for me other instruments Iv played include flute drums and guitar I still play and compose music but now on a piano rather then a keyboard and produce music onn my computer I still write poetry/songs but have taken a break to work on production where atm im at the stage of learning to mix my music and hope after to move on to promoting my music and working towards collaborations with other artist either stuff theyv written or that iv written I like every genre of music besides death metal to me music is an expression of emotion so each music can suit a better mood but screaming nastiness isn't for me however I once met a man who was a heavy metal listener and surprisingly he was the most gentle kind guy which was interesting I guess it shows how music can be a voice of expression

    Hi All

Hey everyone. I've visited these forums a few times and everyone on here seems great. Looking forward to getting some advice and feedback from some great people. A bit about me and what i'm doing here. I am in a band that is trying to write original songs and id like to see how our attempts fair against a faceless internet audience before we go and play them live on stage so to speak. I am the Drummer and don't know much about guitar but I write 99% of the lyrics and then the other members play around with getting them to fit with music etc.
  11. Hi guys. I've just joined this group. I want to explore new songs from various countries and meet new people with whom I can share anything related to music. I compose songs on alternative rock and it can be good to work with eager music lovers. Hugs from istanbul.
  12. Hi, I'm brittani! I'm 19, I play ukulele, and decided to recently try writing my own music. I'm here for blunt criticism. I'm not scurrrrrred lol. Anyway, I'm a really cool person. I like video games, reading, Walking Dead, anime, and just music altogether. I've been playing ukulele for about 3 years now and every day I improve even more! I usually just do covers but I would like to start writing my own music. Anyway, hi everyone! Feel free to talk to me. I'm awesome, I promise! :3

  15. Hi, everyone. I'm new to this site (obviously) and I'm a 16 year old girl who writes lyrics. I just started a blog, and I'm going to post my lyrics there, so check it out. Thanks, Jessie.
  16. Hi guys my name is Lance W Toohey and I am a song lyricist. I have recently had 3 of my works picked up by Sony Records and an Outlaw Country band are about to record them for their upcoming CD. I write country/ballads/blues/gospel.....but at any given time will write just about anything. I am currently collaborating with a couple of very talented music writers in the States, but with the amount of lyrics I write they just can't keep up. I have a backlog of almost 900 lyrics and now with Sony picking up a couple of my works I want to get as much done to the lyrics I have, as well as the new ones that just keep popping up... I'm just lyrics, no music, all that I leave in your hands. I very rarely have an imput into the music side, so once you receive my works you just go for it. Ã will always be totally honest with you, if I don't like the sound I will tell you and you can either give it another shot or grab another lyric...I got plenty of them. Hope to hear from someone soon....Lance
  17. Well there isnt really much to say. I'm a senior in highschool. 17years old. I write lyrics. I love doing so. I just need someone to take the chance to read my lyrics and compose music for them. That is all I am asking. If you want to please feel free to message me and get to know me more... thank you, Michelle
