  1. Hello I'm dazzlingmusicgirl

Hello I am a 24 year old. I am from Georgia. I have always loved listening to music. But only recently began playing the ukulele and writing lyrics. I hope to become a songwriter as a career in the future. I hope to get good advice about writing and make friends.
  2. Hey Guys

Hey everyone I'm a hobbyist music producer from philadelphia. I'm excited to join this site because i figure its a great place to meet and connect with other people that love music.
  3. John asked, Yolanda answers

    1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments? I don't play any instruments. I compose all my music on the computer using loops. 2. Are you in a band or bands? My band is myself. I am in the process of building my website. I just want to make sure I have enough music ready before I publish it. 3. Do you write songs? I write all my song lyrics. I have this thing where I don't put my songs to music until I have composed the song in Acid Pro. Listening to loops and arranging them help me decide the melody to my lyrics. I don't have a writing partner, and not sure how I'd feel about having one. 4. Do you record your music? I currently record my lyrics at home, on a cheesy headset designed for gaming. I only do this so I can have an idea what the song is going to sound like once I get it into the studio. I have chosen a studio, I'm just waiting until I have enough songs together to justify going in and recording the vocals. I do have music available on the web, on Youtube, and also on ReverbNation. Please be aware, though, that the vocals to these have not been recorded in a studio and aren't the greatest sound quality. 5. What other roles do you perform in the music business? I'm a one woman show. I do everything from self management, publishing, promoting and marketing my music all by myself. I'm hoping this will change soon. 6. Are you a tech head? I AM! 7. What country do you live in? United States 8. What are your ambitions? I have a goal to release my first album by June 2018. Honestly, my ULTIMATE goal is to have a song on the Billboard top 100. I'd also really like to tour, at least locally. 9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit? I'm HUGE into bullet journaling. 10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff? I'd like to get an idea of what it is like for other musicians out there, to get feedback on my work, and maybe make some friends. P.S. My real name is Linda Bryant. Yolanda Youngblood has been my stage name for the past 20 years.
  4. New person!

Hiya! My name's Rory, and I'm a 15yo genderfluid musician. I play the violin, trumpet, ukulele, piano (at least an attempt), and I sing. I am in my school's orchestra, concert band, jazz band, and marching band. If you wanna know any more about me and/or be a friend, go ahead and shoot me a message!
  5. Hello everybody, my name is Michael and I loved music ever since I can remember. Nowadays I even try to write it by myself - just as a hobby. I live in Germany near the danish border. Please excuse my poor english - I learn to use it more correctly day by day. I am an IT-professional / software developer, but back in my youth I already made music with a Commodore Amiga, a sound-digitizer, a very small audio mixer and two tape-decks. Then "career" came... A few years ago I started to learn playing the guitar and step-by-step I collected all these little things like a couple of microphones, an amplifier, an audio-capturing-device, a DAW etc. Now, being nearly able to use these utilities and to play some chords and picks on the guitar, I am looking for an entry in songwriting just to create my own stuff and to tell some of the stories that I'm thinking about. My musical tastes are from the singer/songwriter genre, names like Loreena McKennit, Tina Dico, Milow and yes, Ed Sheeran. And last but not least all these evergreens like Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, Cat Stevens. I love these songs in which song content, music and emotion go together and make me feel like I experienced the story be myself. In my own songs I am currently working on issues like merging song structure, song content and emotion - how to arrange a song to make it interesting. And of course I often try to use the english language correctly. See you...
  6. Hello

Hi, My name is Roi, I'm almost 17, from Israel. I write lyrics to songs/ poems in both English and Hebrew. I would like to post here my songs (those I write in English, of course), and I will appreciate any replies, suggestions and opinions. I'm very sorry if my English isn't perfect in my songs as well as in my comments... Corrections on that matter will be very welcomed! Looking forward to knowing you all! It seems like a great place Roi.
  7. Introduction

Hello, there I'm new here and I just want to become a Professional Singer because music has changed me and my world so much and I just know that I can truly tell people who I am and my Story through the Songs that I create. So I hope people wouldn't mind helping me to achieve my dream of being a Professional Singer.
  8. Hello, Leo here, I'm a Melbourne based independent Singer/Songwriter, a Lyricist, and I dabble in home recording. Iv'e been making music for the past five years now, during which I released one album and a handful of singles. I sang and played guitar on one band. and have written Lyrics for different artists. 9. Hi! I'm Jerry Tunedal, soon to be 20 years old. I've been working in a supermarket for about a year now. I started about the time I finished my music school, which I loved very deeply. My title was something I wrote down as a note in my phone 6th of May, 2015. It was written in Swedish. Translated to something like this, "You are only as happy that you feel you deserve." Which in return mean, if you feel terrible, I believe you have the idea that you should feel terrible. And if you feel that your life is great, you have the idea that you deserve a good life. This of course is something deeper than just plain words or cravings. I've had my good times and bad times since i wrote that down. But even how shitty life seemed to be, I always believed that quote to be true. My passion has since I was 9 years old been music. As many others, I also had my doubts on it but I always came back to it. It was about half a year ago I decided for sure that music was what I was supposed to do. Anyways I wanted to introduce myself to this forum. I believe I will find loads of joy in this forum, if I allow myself to find it. I could write a lot more about myself. But I'd rather not make this post too long. See you around! Jerry
  10. Introducing myself

Hi, I'm new here. I hope this is the way to go about "introducing myself". I'm Pahchisme Plaid--not my real name of course. I'm a lyricist/songwriter. Lyrics are my strength. I've been writing songs for about three years. A friend recommended this site to me and I'm looking forward to checking it out. I do sing some of the songs I write. I use it as a means to get the feel/sense of my lyrics across to others, but I'm not a "performer" by nature, so you won't see me on stage anywhere...well...maybe sometime at some point just for kicks, but not the norm for me. I guess that's all I'm going to share at this point. Questions may come up eventually and we'll take it from there! Thanks for accepting my registration here!
  11. This is Me

Hello to anyone reading this... My my name is Steph and I am a junior music education major from Illinois. I'm currently working on some songwriting stuff because I want to be a more well rounded musician and I think being able to create is very important. I hope to teach little kids one day, but my lyric style is a little more adult, content-wise. Hopefully I can get them to a more appropriate level at some point so I can write some songs for young people, too. hope you check out my stuff so I can get some good critiques. "Let music never die in me." -Steph
  12. This is so awesome!

Hi my name is Randy, and I am so happy I found this site/community! I found this by googling "music critique". This looks so great! I hope to hone my feedback skills here, network, collaborate, get feedback from you all to improve my composing/arranging and recording/mixing chops, got tons to learn. This just looks like so much fun and such a great resource! As a musician, I'm primarily a guitarist (35+ years), mostly electric. Also a drummer, and play a little bass and keys (ha!). Love improvising over blues/fusion type tracks. Love hard rock, progressive rock, soft rock, funk, fusion, all kinds of stuff. I started and ran a weekly jam session via meetup.com for about a year, and recently handed that off to another member. Big influences... well RUSH is my all time favorite band, and Led Zep, Eagles, Genesis, Yes among others are all great. More recent stuff like Muse, Tool, Perfect Circle is very cool. I'm also really appreciating some current pop artists like Taylor Swift, Sia, Bruno Mars to name a few. I've recently decided to get serious about making this passion for composing, playing & recording music a source of income (was previously programming video games for 25 years, currently jobless and chewing through the cash stash). Current plan is to start out with creating music cues for TV, and I know that can take a while to develop. I'd also love to release an EP of original tunes. Most of my stuff so far is instrumental music, the voice is rather undeveloped however I'm signed up for vocal lessons starting next week. My current goal is to submit my first TV music cue to Taxi.com by Jan 31 2017. I can really use any tips from anyone with experience with writing for TV, and I'll eventually post work in progress here for feedback. Guitars: Peavey EVH Wolfgang (this is my main, my baby). American Deluxe HSS Strat, American Standard Tele. a few acoustics. Fender Jazz Bass. Recording Hardware: Macbook Pro 2011 16BG Ram (I see a new mac in the near future). Interface - Apogee Duet II. Monitors - Pair of HS50M + HS10M Sub. Recording Software: Logic Pro X (primarily). Probably more plugins than I need. Stuff from Waves, Fab Filter, iZotope, Eventide. IK's Amplitube 4, Sampletank 3. Too many guitar pedals/amps, and I don't really use them for recording. Did I miss anything? Looking forward to meeting you and having a blast together! -Randy
  13. Hello All!

Hi Guys. I'm George Winkworth and I've been writing music since the start of the eighties (with then, suitably matching hair do of the time). I play keyboards and a smidgen of guitar. I am predominently a dance music composer but have always wanted to work with a decent vocalist, so that I could move more into ful song writing. This has just become an option so am really excited to be writing full lyrics to go with my music. Please excuse the promo type photo - I've just completed and released my first vocal effort so am in full promo mode... I stumbled on this site and am really keen to tap into the experience that's already on here. It looks to be a great resource for a lyrical noob like me. Thanks! George
  14. Hello, from Ghana

Hello everyone, I'm an aspiring composer/producer from Ghana. I lived in the States for about 11 years, and I guess that's where most of my musical education and taste-forming happened. I'm back in Ghana now. I played piano, took about 2/3rds of a year of music theory, taught myself to play the piano, but I never really wrote, even though I desperately wanted to. I was much too intimidated. Then, I discovered this piano app on the iTunes store, and started improvising along to music while riding in the subways. I had a lot of fun doing that, and thought this is the gentlest way to learn how to "write" music. About four years later, in Ghana now, I picked up an electronic keyboard. Started practicing blues improvisations. I also managed to keep an Akai MPK Mini I had bought in the states, along with a copy of Ableton. One day, about a month ago, I started trying to make new music every day. Two weeks ago I started to share what I had. I dunno, I like what I make quite a bit, and I'm ready to see what others make of it. Cheers! Hassan
  15. Hi there, I'm totally new here, I chose to use this quote on songwriting by Steve Earle as the post subject, I just love quotes, short bursts of valuable human knowledge and experience! I'll follow @john's format for my post so I'll be answering your questions John! 1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments? What instruments? I play drums, piano, I sing and I am a songwriter. When did you start playing? I started playing when I was 14 years old. Did you teach yourself? I went to music school alongside my normal school, music college, and then music university. BA in Music Performance, MA in Music Performance. 2. Are you in a band or bands? What is the name of the band? I have been in many bands and played with/for many artists as a drummer. Some well known people are: Bias Boshell (Moody Blues), Scott James (Stereophonics), Svetlana Vassileva (Moby Europe), and supported Arthur Lee's Love and PP Arnold. Played with a few famous Greek artists too. My own project is called E-Mute and it's an alternative rock project. My music was featured on Music Week, the Indie Rock Cafe and Soundcloud. What do you play? When I perform my songs live I play piano, sing and I also have a few drums next to the piano, playing a few drum duet stuff with the drummer. What other instruments are in the band? Drums, bass, guitar, sometimes synthesizers and backing vox. It is not a band. Different musicians help me out to perform live. Do you have a band website? Of course. All of us need to have our own website nowadays! http://www.emute-music.com/ 3. Do you write songs? Do you write lyrics, music or both? Both! I started writing everything on my own after a bad experience when my band with Scott James split up. Do you have a writing partner? Years ago, when I was in the band with Scott he was my writing partner and .... songwriting teacher... I learned so much then. But since then I kind of went off to do my own thing musically. 4. Do you record your music? Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use? I do use a home studio, nothing too fancy, a Mac, Logic and GarageBand, a decent audio interface, pre-amp and a few good mics. I prefer using GarageBand I find the interface ''songwriting friendly''. Do you use a recording studio? I do. Once I'm done with the recordings at home, I take the files in the recording studio and either write all other instruments on top of the home studio tracks or I re-record everything. It depends. For my last EP I went for a live raw full live band sound. Do you have music available on the web? if so where? Everywhere. iTunes, Spotify, my website... We have to be everywhere these days. 5. What other roles do you perform in the music business? Management? Label owner? Publishing? Promotion? Other? I am very experienced with social media and social media marketing. 6. Are you a tech head? A little bit yes. Until recently I was also working for Google as a Google trainer. Useful knowledge for... social media marketing and music marketing I suppose. It was a fun job. 7. What country do you live in? I moved from London to Austria. My girlfriend is Austrian so we decided to move here in Salzburg. I am originally from Athens. 8. What are your ambitions? To develope even further as a musician and as a person. 9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit? Me and my girlfriend are running a jewellery business. All jewellery is handmade by us, we have a small (but well equipped) workshop and when I'm not playing music I'm ... hammering away... What are your pastimes? Watching good documentaries, reading about history and exercising. 10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff? I just want to meet like-minded songwriters. Here in Salzburg I don't know a lot of people yet and especially musicians. It feels a bit lonely (musically...) but at the same time, it has been very productive with music here. I have much more time in my hands... Thanks for reading! Theo
  16. Greetings from Norway

Hi, I'm a songwriter/ vocalist for Norwegian industrial rock band SIN 5. I've been writing music for a number of years, although have only recently taken up self-studying music theory in an effort to unlock some of the musical secrets I've wanted to explore for a while, rather than just using my ear and the basic theory knowledge I already have. So far, I'm thoroughly enjoying it! My main reason for joining is pose questions regarding various songs I'm trying to analyze and find out why they sound the way they do - which mode(s), key(s) they're using (for example), in an effort to broaden my own songwriting skills. Of course, I do my best to help answer any questions in discussions I am able to contribute to, as well. I hope to geek out over music with some of you soon! Iscariot13
  17. Greetings from Greece

  18. Hiya

So Hi My Name Is Elena and I'm new here. Nice to meet you.
  19. Hello

Hi, Just introducing myself. I am an (amateur) songwriter/producer working entirely alone at the moment and I am sure I have pretty much lost all perspective on everything I am doing musically. Hoping to be able to share and receive feedback from the forum to help maybe even put me back in the real world (or is that just too ambitious?) I look forwarding to speaking with you all. Thanks Mike
  20. Greetings

Hello. My name is Anna, but you can call me by my username. I'm a songwriter and a poet. My favorite band at the moment is Fall Out Boy. I'm mostly here to learn more about songwriting, but I hope to make some friends along the way as well. Thanks for reading this!
  21. Hello, World!

Hello to the whole songstuff community! I am Yves and play the guitar (and sometimes sing) at Aby's Dice, an alternative rock band with violins from Zurich, Switzerland. As the title might implies, I also work as a software engineer We compose, arrange and record everything ourselves in our band room, that is why I hope to get tons of great feedback and song critiques from all of you. Cheers!
  22. Hello!

Hi, so my name is Averie. I'm 15 and I've always had a love for writing and when I say writing, I mean any type of writing. I love short stories, poetry, and more recently songs. I've always written stories and have dabbled (very little) in poetry and began writing songs in August. I'd say my lyrics are heavily influenced by the music I listen to (which is a lot of Halsey, FKA Twigs, Twenty One Pilots, Panic! at the Disco, Sia). Yeah, so I'm going to post my lyrics here in hope of some feedback and maybe some help melodically? I can't read music and have no trouble writing lyrics or basic ideas so much as developing a melody that's not completely redundant.
  23. Greetings SongStuff! I don't know why I didn't join you all sooner. Perhaps due to some internal struggles I'd been battling over the past several years... I'm transgender, and perhaps a bit quirky, haha, so this comes with a lot of identity crisis. A lot of my songs have taken influence from that, actually. I've been writing songs since I was in eighth grade, a tremendous period to be artistically expressive. I have over a hundred drafts on my phone. Hope you enjoyed my introduction. I would love to connect with you all at one point or another!
