  1. My name is Michael Black. I was born and raised in New Jersey and I've always enjoyed song writing. Recently I've been writing country music songs and then I wrote my first rap song back in 2016 dedicated and inspired by my son who had some rough experiences in the early stages of his life. I consider myself to be a true story lyric writer so I base all my lyrics off my experiences or the others around me. I can't begin to say how thrilled I am to be able to have my songs produced.
  2. A quick introduction

Ive been playing guitar for 21 years, been a part of countless studio studio albums, touring bands, studio sessions and also attended musicians institute years ago. I am am currently still performing in a touring band and a part owener of a recording studio in the Bay Area, California.
  3. Window Shoppers

Window Shoppers Verse 1 Sometimes I wonder to myself But I don't say my thoughts out loud I'm scared they'll put me on the shelf But I'm still trying to get down Chorus I've heard what the cool kids said The boys want me and the girls wanna be me But they want my body, not my head Window shoppers, that's all they'll ever be Verse 2 At times my daydreams last for hours Time to me means nothing But all of the time in the world will be ours If you give me a sign, give me something Chorus I've heard what the cool kids said The boys want me and the girls wanna be me But they want my body, not my head Window shoppers, that's all they'll ever be Bridge But it's not just them now I rarely ever say my thoughts out loud It's everyone now They're all the same face in the crowd Chorus I've heard what they all have said The boys want me and the girls wanna be me But they want my body, not my head Windows shoppers, that's all everyone will be
  4. I need critique on my lyrics

They say I should not be successful, that it would be stressful. But they don't know I could do anything, I am God's vessel. I'll wrestle with the devil, but I'll nestle in God's love. As for evil I am a rebel, and my enemy? He's just a pebble, God's love is broad in it I will revel. It's there even when I am flawed, if everyone knew that there would be no holy facades. Jesus in the heart was meek and lowly. But he confessed his love boldly on that cross, it was a matrimonial ceremony, people say they're their own God, but when they go home they pray to the Lord for those job's. its not not finished but this is what I have so far; constructive criticism is welcomed, God bless.

  6. I have re-written and extended "Snow Flakes Fall" ( a Christmas Song) based on your feedback........ David.... wanted longer... two bridges and repeat 1st verse as a 3rd verse. Well I have...but I have changed the 3rd verse lyrics but kept "Snow flakes fall" and "that Christmas brings each year." McnaughtonPark .... I really wanted to keep "the song of winter calls"... I really liked what you said about winter having a song... but in the end I change it... you'll see. Dek.... I tried to give that "emotional grab" you talked about.... I think I may have come close. Mark ..... I know it still needs technical fine tuning... a skill I don't have... yet... but your input is much appreciated. Finally... Larry... It all yours if you want to give it a try again.... Listen on Soundcloud.com ************************************************************************************************************************** Snow Flakes Fall (new and extended lyrics) (1st verse) Snow- flakes fall And this song of Christmas calls Even though cold winds blow The fire is all a-glow With warmth of love we know That Christmas brings each year. (bridge) Listen… The chimes are ringing Voices ... On the door step singing Those Christmas songs of old. (2nd verse) Sleigh bells ring And the snow is glistening Children laugh everywhere Their hopes and dreams they share Telling of happiness That Christmas brings each year (2nd bridge) Mem – ‘ries of things for-giv-en Know-ing that life is worth liv-ing each time we look... and see…. (3rd verse) Snow flakes fall that is when I will re-call all the love and the care that we can give and share it is a prec-ious gift that Christ-mas brings each year.

  8. Song Critique: Depression Pt. 1

I am definitely open to critiques, I take criticism (constructive) pretty well so please be honest, and helpful! Also, I'm an art major, so I can take a crtique (having been through one where my art was ripped to pieces) I'm not hurt by much, anyways..... feel free to read and let me know what you like, dislike, what I can change and how I could make it better! Merci! Depression Pt. 1 By Lucy Rider What have I ever done to deserve this Must’ve been bad, but no one’s perfect All I want is to truly be loved so certain Is that too much to ask More than ever do I feel depressed because Maybe I didn’t appreciate you enough But do know that you have my love Is that too much to ask It’s like you reach in & took my heart right out Left me all alone here on cloud nine But don’t worry, I don’t blame you, so don’t cry I just want to know why All I want is to know why Only in the starting phase, only in part one Should’ve known better, it’s never just fun But something within me says you’re the one Hope that’s not too much to ask Oh sure do I feel depressed because I guess I didn’t appreciate you enough But do know that only you have my love Tell me if that’s too much to ask If I had the chance to do this all over again I probably would, leaves fall with the season And everything happens for a reason And that’s not too much to ask It’s like you reach in & took my heart right out Left me all alone here on cloud nine But don’t worry, I don’t blame you, so don’t cry I just want to know why All I want is to know why It’s not too much to ask for And I promise I won’t ask anymore I won’t ask anymore, I promise Just trying to figure out what I did to deserve this
  9. Hi there, I am a psychology researcher at Cape Breton University, Canada, and also a musician/song writer myself. My professor and I are conducting a study on song writing and its influence on identity development. If you are interested and have the time, it would be greatly appreciated if you participated in our study by answering some questions on our survey - it will only take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Thank so much, and here is the link... https://docs.google.com/forms/d/18iq_8YJ199QGC62RyBgg_DOisU-zjmU2L_7SgXZOBYY/viewform Much thanks, Gillian

  11. This may seem pretty simple but once you pay attention and tap into your mood or emotions the pay can be big. I found that when I have had some of the following emotions or mood swings, initially the reaction would be to do something other than write music. But that is s exactly when I go into the studio and start letting the juices flow. Since my attention is so focused and whatever got me distracted in the first place,I can use that focus and transfer it over into my music. I have written some of my best melodies this way.The following emotions tend to work for me. 1.Anger 2.Sadness 3.Anticipation 4.Envy 5.Love or appreciation The next time you feel any of the above mentioned and feel like doing something in reaction, sit in the studio for 30 minutes or go to your favorite place and grab a pen an paper.Like I said this is one of the tools that works for Me. Give it A shot. TheVoiceProLive.com

  13. If Nobody Likes My Song

So... last night I stayed up really late so I could negotiate with Santa (he's a tough bugger!) Anyway, I wrote this while I was waiting for Santa to show up..... Merry Christmas! http://soundcloud.com/rick-glynn/if-nobody-likes-my-song If Nobody Likes My Song Rick Glynn - 2012 Christmas Eve And if nobody likes my song I'll probably sing it anyway I'll be the star of my own final show I'll take my own curtain call and quietly walk away no sense hanging around there's nobody here I know What if the words I sing mean something to me... but to them, they don't mean anything and nobody liked my song Maybe it's the way I write my songs a little too short, a little too long maybe the words don't rhyme like they think they should But maybe I'm wrong, and I can't see that the only words they'll get from me won't sell a single song like I thought they would And if nobody likes my song my words and them don't get along and once again I've offended half the crowd I'll pack it up, and walk away they weren't listening anyway no sense singing my songs when everything gets this loud Maybe it's the way I write my songs a little too short, a little too long maybe the words don't rhyme like they think they should But maybe I'm wrong, and I can't see that the only words they'll get from me won't sell a single song like I thought they would What will I do if nobody likes my song? What will I do if nobody likes my song?

  18. Hi, I was just banned in Boston, or wherever Guitar Noise hosts it's song writing forum. I think the moderator got his title confused with" goderator". Anyway, I have been writing songs for about a year. I have minimum instrumental skills I try to make recordings of things I have written already. The songs that I have currently posted online can be found on sound click at MrEWorm. I tend to think two of the tunes I have listed there "Larry's Song" and "Death of Friends" are my best. I'm 61 years old, scarred and weary. I'm located in Aurora, IL
