Hello Everyone!

I'm Mr. Minor Chord! I can't wait to talk with everyone!

I've been playing piano for 8 years under private instruction.

I've been learning trombone for the past year and a half.

I'm currently working solo, but I'm collaborating with another songwriter, and I may ask them to partner with me.

I'm in America.

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments?
Ja.

What instruments?
I play the electric and acoustic guitar, electric bass, drum kit, djembe/dundun, shakuhachi, dungchen, and bamboo sax (xaphoon).

When did you start playing?
Guitar when i was 7, bass when I was 10, drumkit at 14, djembe at 14, shakuhachi at 18, dungchen and xaphoon last year.

Did you teach yourself?
Mainly yes. I had lessons with a blues guitarist for 2 years, and was taught djembe by a specialist at school for 2 years. I had a wonderful shakuhachi teacher very briefly, and I attended a school for drums but didn't finish the year. Other then that, entirely self taught.

2. Are you in a band or bands?
Ja, sort of.

What is the name of the band?
I'm in two hip hop projects currently. I play acoustic guitar for one (more a duo), which is un-named and lowkey, and in an internet based trio called (working title) 'Hip Hopcrates and the Rap Magus Prism Clan'. Other then that, I am the drummer of hiatus prog death metal band Circles of Squares, and am an original member of Gareth Masons Musica Masonica improvisation collective.

What do you play?
Woops, answered above, sorry.

What other instruments are in the band?
Circles of Squares consists of two guitarists, an accordion player, keyboardist, bassist and drummer. Musica Masonica is variable and collaborative, but the main body is a loop guitarist and drummer.

Do you have a band website?
Not currently. Many are work in progress projects. Fine tuning and patience is the key today.

3. Do you write songs?
Ja.

Do you write lyrics, music or both?
Both.

Do you have a writing partner?
No.

4. Do you record your music?
When I can.

Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use?
Sort of. All I have right now is a Pod Studio UX1 thingy, and Pioneer 5000 headphones.

Do you use a recording studio?
When I can afford it. Which isn't often nowdays.

Do you have music available on the web? if so where?
Yes. Previous projects of mine are available on the web, but I have reservations sharing them, as I only really got out there when I went through a sort of metal phase. However my personal tastes are so much more then metal, and I dont feel the work I currently have available remotely reflects who I am. Anyone who is interested can ask.

5. What other roles do you perform in the music business?

Management? Label owner? Publishing? Promotion? Other?
I did some event organisation for a label owned my a friend of mine, called Envenomation Records.

6. Are you a tech head?
Can't say I am. I'm useless with that stuff.

7. What country do you live in?
England.

8. What are your ambitions?
I have alot of them. I'll spare you all for now.

9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit?
Yeah. I've been uninspired for years, but I've drawn most of my life. I love writing too, but again, lack of inspiration for a long time. School sort of forced my escapist tendency so hard that it really brought it out in me, but i'm not there any more.

What are your pastimes?
Learning. I am fascinated by absolutely everything, and dedicate my existence to self mastery, understanding, for external mastery and understanding.

10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff?
A community that I can contribute to, which can help me improve also. I've never had one that i've felt I belong with in any sense.

Whew, that was a mouthful, my apologies.

Hey i am an aspiring music promoter and song writer from St.Louis MO. I found this forum searching for anything other than Facebook to network on.lol. I run a couple servers and a local music website from my home. I am pretty good with the tech but I am new to music so I am just here to listen and learn something.

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments?

What instruments? Keyboard, Cavaquinho (a brazilian instrument) and Harmonica. I'm a beginner in all of them, though.

When did you start playing? I started learning keyboard almost a year ago, after years of wait/postponing. I was 23 then and it was the first instrument I started learning. I've been playing with the cavaquinho since January and I try to get something going in the Harmonica whenever I have some time left. :P

Did you teach yourself? Yes, but with the precious help of Youtube videos.

2. Are you in a band or bands?

No. I wish I did back in school.

3. Do you write songs?

Do you write lyrics, music or both? Both. My lyrics are more "professional". I have some great ideas for music as well (actually, both things usually come together for me), but my lack of experience with instruments make it hard to play/express what my mind is creating. That is the main thing I've been working on recently.

Do you have a writing partner? No, but I really liked every single time I wrote a song with someone else.

4. Do you record your music?

Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use? / Do you use a recording studio? No. I'm a terrible singer and my music software knowledge is really basic.

Do you have music available on the web? if so where? My Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/digisabio) has two songs I wrote (together with some partners), which participated in regional song contests.

I also have a recorded commercial song avaliable for listening in Youtube:

All of them are in the samba genre, written in brazilian portuguese. They are sung by a friend of mine, who is a professional samba singer, currently making his commercial debut.

5. What other roles do you perform in the music business?

Management? Label owner? Publishing? Promotion? Other? None.

6. Are you a tech head?

No.

7. What country do you live in?

Brasil.

8. What are your ambitions?

I have been writing songs in the samba genre, recently, and that makes me really happy. But I listen to a lot of different styles of music, from J-Pop to Eastern European music, so I want to work with other genres and cultures, with singers and musicians from other countries.

I also plan to improve my instrument playing, so I can get better at expressing my music (and not only my lyrics).

9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit?

What are your pastimes? Visual arts are definitely my weakness. But I like writing and I do that quite often.

10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff?

I hope I can get to know and work with the songwriters, singers, musicians and producers here. I would like to work in different projects, any genre, any style. Right now, lyrics are what I can offer most of time (in portuguese or english, or even spanish or french, if working together with a native speaker who can double check it), but I hope soon I'll be able to provide music in a more "professional" level, as well. My goal, in the end, is to share experiences, keep the learning process going and create some great music. :)

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments?

Yes

What instruments?
Guitar, Drums, Bass, Cello and I dabble in Piano and Singing

When did you start playing?
Various times obviously, but I've been playing guitar for about 6 years and drums for about 4 years

Did you teach yourself?

Guitar no, Drums yes, Bass no (but guitar taught me most of it), Cello no, Piano yes

2. Are you in a band or bands?
Yes

What is the name of the band?

Drums

What other instruments are in the band?
A guitarist and a bassist, we are currently looking for a singer

Do you have a band website?
No

3. Do you write songs?
Yes

Do you write lyrics, music or both?
I write mostly lyrics because I'm not as good at writing songs on guitar, but I do improvise out songs on drums cause that's easy. So both.

Do you have a writing partner?
Not for my lyrics, I write those alone. My partner for the music writing would be my guitarist, but he writes the majority of the stuff, I just add thoughts and some new ideas.

4. Do you record your music?

Not really

Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use?
I tried using Logic Pro to record guitar a few times but it didn't turn out the best

Do you use a recording studio?

No

5. What other roles do you perform in the music business?
Nothing else, hopefully something in the future
Management? Label owner? Publishing? Promotion? Other?

6. Are you a tech head?
I can figure things out for the most part, but no I'm not really a tech head

7. What country do you live in?
Canada

8. What are your ambitions?

Getting much better at the instruments I play, to the point where I can be recognized as better than your average musician.
The touring/recording band life, it's ridiculous but I will try my hardest to get there

9. Do you draw/paint/write stories/computer art/dance or other creative pursuit?
I draw/paint because I'm good at it, though not too much because I don't have enough passion to put it that much effort that often. Though I do draw pen designs/logos a lot. I also do some computer art on Adobe Illustrator.

What are your pastimes?
Playing music (mostly drums), some video games

10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff?

Advice on my lyrics because I feel like I could definitely use tips on how to make my stuff more interesting and different, and just overall more professional
