I don't play any instruments but I guess I'm an okay singer.

Nope, no band.

I write lyrics with melodies. However, I can't read or write notes, so I have to record all of my songs if I don't want to forget their melodies.

I record my stuff using a Shure SM58 with that USB adapter-thingy and plain old Audacity.

I do spend lots of time at the computer but I don't think I qualify as a tech head, no.

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments?

What instruments? < My first instrument was guitar, I took lessons for around 5 years, started losing interest about a year or two ago. Moved on to experimenting with drums and eventually ended up devoting most of my musical time to seeing what I could do with my computer by itself, now mostly everything musical I do is based around that. I've dabbled around in bass and keyboard but never spent enough time doing it to claim that it's something I play.

When did you start playing? < I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old, that led to everything else.

Did you teach yourself? < I began guitar lessons fairly soon after getting my first guitar, did that for 5 years, moved on to other instruments, everything beyond guitar is self-taught.

2. Are you in a band or bands?

What is the name of the band? < Mindprowler is my main project, which is only myself. I also play guitar in a garage metal band occasionally, Apophis.

What do you play? > With Mindprowler I use nothing but my computer, with Apophis I play co-lead guitar.

What other instruments are in the band? < Mindprowler is sample based, instruments vary from song to song. Apophis is standard metal band set-up (vocals, 2 guitars, bass, drums).

Do you have a band website?< I upload all of my music to SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and YouTube. All available for download.

Do you write lyrics, music or both? < I write music for several instruments, no experience in lyrics.

Do you have a writing partner? < Nope.

Do you use a home studio? If so what gear do you use? > "Studio" is a vague term, I don't own any recording / producing hardware besides my computer, which I use for all of my music production.

Do you use a recording studio? > I have spent some time in a studio, but nothing sufficient enough to call myself experienced.

1. Do you sing, play an instrument or instruments? - Aye

What instruments? - Guitar, bass, harmonica, piano (a little), and violin (just started). I've also got a fairly decent voice (Think "Poor man's Neil Pennycook")

When did you start playing? - When I was 22.

Did you teach yourself? - I taught myself all my instruments except the violin. I'm getting lessons for that. The fiddlers among us should understand why :-)

2. Are you in a band or bands? - Nope. Used to be in an epic band called the Toxic Shock Robots, but unfortunately we didn't really get beyond the "Skinning up and talking about what an awesome band we were" phase. I think we wrote 2 songs, and they both sucked donkey balls.

What is the name of the band? - I'm strictly solo at the moment. Don't wanna cede creative control over anything to anyone.

What do you play? - One of my life's ambitions is to be able to play every type of instrument inthe world to a good standard. I'm 29, and it's currently 4 down, 350 to go. Piece of cake.

What are your pastimes? - Writing music/lyrics, running,writing short stories, reading (I'm loving the 'Game of Thrones/Song of Ice and Fire' books at the moment), chatting shit with my mates, rides, arcades, I could go on, but perhaps my favourite thing to do is grab my guitar/keyboard and just jam along to whatever comes up on Jango or Pandora. I can spend hours doing that.

10. What would you like to get out of Songstuff? - Uncritical praise, undying love, adulation, hero worship, sexual favours, a few good weed connections and, if I'm really, really lucky a few of the useful tips on songwriting I so desperately need.
