Why do basses always have bizarre string amounts? 5-string,6-string.9-string,13-string, and i think a 15 or 17-string? I don't think i understand.

Heh, some crazy stuff out there, to be sure, I'd have to try one out in person before I'd say too bad about them, though I can't see too much use for extending the range 9-12 strings.

That said I have a 6er that's pretty fun to play, and I'd love to try a 7 string one day.

This automatically reminded me of this, something I saw many years ago:

Not listened to his original songs in a while, I remember that they were quite nice and relaxing..

But anyway, yeah, crazy stuff! Can it really be called a bass when it has the ability to play all those notes? Surely it fits a new category of instrument altogether?
