Music Challenge #1 The Melody Says It All

Recommended Posts

Hi

The first mission, should you choose to accept it, couldn't be simpler. Challenge #1 is to write a melody for an ABC song form song, no chords or accompaniment, just the melody. Please post your melody to the group discussion board by Thursday, including Challenge #1 in the topic title. It can be a vocal or another solo instrument. No words are allowed at this stage.

For the draft please give it a title of 3 letters of the alphabet and one number so that it can be located and referenced through the week. There is good reason.

When you post your draft, please contact me by PM telling me the emotional stories of the 3 sections, and how, if any, that the emotional story develops through the song.

So far so good.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday am please listen to entries made by fellow group members and post up what you think the song is about, especially the emotions being conveyed and how they develop.

On Sunday Evening I will post up what the original writers had intended to convey with their melody!

Next week we will then shift the focus to critique and improvement of your draft melodies. At this point you can give your melody a more lasting and meaningful title. Next week you can also add chords to your melody.

Recording do not need to be perfect performances or perfect recordings.

Cheers

John
