Hi-Newbie Is Here;)

Recommended Posts

Greetings from Germany to all. And sorry if my english isn't that perfect-feel free to correct me.

I found this Forum while searching any kind of Input about songwriting.

Real nice place here....... :flowers:

Started singing as a child, did a little bit here and there over the years (Coverbands most of the time)  but always as a ambitioned hobby. I'm not that impressed about my own voice, it's kind of "OK", not a "WHOW" -but I really do love singing :D

After an Ear Problem I had to quit my Band (Rock) and stopped making music for about 5 Years......and I'm still not able to practice and play with a real Rockband because of the loudness.

One Ear is damaged and I'm afraid to get a problem with the other one-so sadly I'm through with this....

Actually I try to bring an acoustic duo to life-we'll see how far we will get.........want to play a little in bars for my fun :rockin:

I like all kind of Rock,Rock/Pop,Blues,Soul,Funk,whatever-but NO Electro Stuff(Techno/Dance etc....)!!!

The last years I started to create own Songs and record them- but to tell you the truth-I'm not good in Music-Theory and I don't play an instrument really well-very little Keyboard and Guitar.....and in my age I find it hard to really start through with this because of the limited time and my friend is an acceptable  guitar player-so I dont really need to play it and also don't expect to get that good myself

But I have a lot of ideas and searched for a way to work them out.

So I started playing around with Reaper a while ago-very nice-this makes really Fun!!!

A good way for me to bring the ideas in my mind to other peoples ears, I'm learning as much as my time beside my nine-to-five allows and I think I'll have to learn for the next ten years how to handle all of this :lol2::confused1:

I see this more like playing an Instrument, record my vocal-ideas and make an arrangement, my ears will limit me in final mixing (I'll never be a good Mixer even if I try and learn as much as I can) but I can do an hopefully enjoyable rough mix at least to put my ideas in a nutshell.

These songs may be for our duo project if they fit in our unplugged set -maybe also for other people (collaboration?), I just do it for fun-somehow I just love to write songs.....if somebody likes something and/or has a good voice or an instrumental idea -feel free to contact me.

It would be nice to load up some stuff to get some critics about my ideas, songwriting and also the english lyrics (I really need critics from native speakers! And if my "german" sounds through too much in my pronunciation please tell me!!).

I promise to load up something as soon as possible.

So long & a big hug-Leina

PS:

I may will link to this post when I load up something and limit the conversation to the actual Song-because I find it tiring to repeat "my story" or intentions in every post-so the people can read all basics they need to know abut me here-is that OK for you? But if you have questions feel free to ask :)

Welcome!

Don't let that ear stop you!  Beethoven hammered out some of his best work when he was almost totally deaf.

While grammatical issues can be distracting, you can absolutely use your accent to your advantage. Can you imagine Bjork without the accent? It lends her work a particular je ne sais quoi that's, i think, necessary. Embrace it!

Hi Jan and Mark- thanks for your welcome :flowers:

@Mark

Yeah-Beethoven was deaf at least- but I'm NOT.

My right ear has lost the deep frequences below 500hz,but is very sensible to loudness!!!If it would be deaf may it would be easier :cursing:

It took me a long time and training  to handle just my normal life without ear plug on the right side.

Now I'm on the point again to stand a level of loudness that allows to enjoy a concert(in the last row with ear plug!) and sing loud myself.

As you see- I don't give up and do what I can :lol2:

Your thoughts about the accent are very interesting- I didn't think about this that way...........(may it's the same kind like we german like french people speaking german) but at least I can't decide myself if it sound's kind of "nice" or "special" to an english native speaker or just only ridiculously.....what I try to avoid! So it helps me a lot to get feedback :lol2:
