J Morrison. (  c )  thought it would be a lyric but can't find music in my head to fit it the first two lines just came to me as is the case with most of my stuff then it fell into place but ended up here .

 

I'm looking at the past

through the bottom of a glass

the past looks much better this way

 

when I'm sober I just cry

keep asking myself why

did you have to go away

 

for I did all I could

in fact much more than I should

no matter you still went and strayed

 

did you think it was alright

to stay out almost every night

when you're in love you don't act that way

right then I knew

no no, I have a tune... the last 4 lines would make a perfect chorus! I'm hearing a Garth Brooks vibe here.

You could make this a bridge by adding a line or changing the rhyme scheme:

then came the night you left

I didn't have to guess

you packed and walked out in the rain
