Writing To Metal Tunes

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps...I have been doing a lot of writing for pre written music in need of lyrics lately. My problem lies in writing to fast metal tunes. I have trouble finding where a verse should start and end, and where "breathing" room should be till the next verse starts or the chorus. Basically, I don't know how to count bars very good, or at all in some of the faster songs. Is there a trick to spotting sections (if that makes sense) or bars? This might sound like a stupid question, and I'm not even sure you will understand what I'm trying to convey. I just need to know if I need short abrupt lines in a verse or maybe longer fuller lines....I'm probably not making much sense, because I don't know how to really phrase the question.
