           CHRISTMAS -deconstructed

 

snows begin to fall-silent-our reference point- to awaken

listen close take heed -prayers prayed-led one by one

a single star-brighter still – this will be a soul catchers dream 

 

magical-indefinable-created from-for-a stopping point

what’s in a name-to be born-again-over and over-we

gain- are given in rebirth-all comes from that ages old story

 

if we are promised one thing-it is to believe-so get in line

give us redemption-a piece of glory-flaked in gold

drawn to it briefly – for a day-we take notice-of place and time

 

ready to sing his praise-existing-in a transcendent mode

oh the moment-when dark-hits the light-live it-here and now

to be vetted by the present-taken in from the past- will it last

 

Christmas

 

In whose humbled beginnings-we visualize-low this is his center stage

pierced by cold –a mother and her child huddle- in a stable-unaware

oh those many stories re-hashed- spending our life-guided by words on a page

 

taken in by his plight- some will follow-miracles are transcribed-while

others cry-imposter -generations have divided-over this-all is misunderstood

we come undone- what is left to believe-lost in faith- left to us comprehend

 

should we cling to a perfect picture of – a scene- taken in by a choir of angels

and that peal of church bells- or a treble- we reflect-genuflect- praise his message

called us forth- we take him for granted- to share the gospel of- blaspheme his name

 

so behold this night-a child- his story- without a reference point –speak his name

carried through into millennia-what does it all really mean-this is a day-his day

one day only - joy and peace will be shared- despite-we will recognize- to celebrate
