Summer Days    13

(V)

The bright lights in Texas

their calling my name

where everything is bigger

nothing stays the same

a cowboys horse and rodeo

and ride on the plains

Texan hat to tip the gal's

and a cowboys name

(Chorus)

I wanna be a ranger

open roads-- there to ride--

oil and finer things

that Texas can provide

yeah wanna be a ranger

pistol by my side--

all that Texas beings

things I have not tried

(V)

I've always been a farmer

like my dad and his before

living off this land

never wanting more

then one-night a dream came

and to my surprise--

Texas lights were gleaming

deep down in my eyes

(Chorus)

I wanna be a ranger

open roads there to ride--

oil and finer things

only Texas can provide

yeah wanna be a ranger

pistol by my side--

all that Texas beings

and things I haven't tried

(V)

I might sale the farm

and sign my life away--

heading down to Austin

Texas bound today

Yeah I'm bound for Texas

Texas I'm on my way

Might be there by nightfall

Texas bound Today

(Repeat Chorus)

I had given up meeting someone to Co-write music to my lyrics after such long search, so I packed all my lyrics away, and I can't find them now, so I've written this one by memory, lots of changes as I couldn't remember ending verse.

I only put Austin cause my grandson's named Austin, but hey Dallas works fine. Tell me more about this device,if I only had one wish, I'd wish to hear music to my lyrics. Until then, I continue onward with this dream. So glad you liked Texas Bound. Thank again Peggy.

Definitely got some strong possibilities here – because the singer has a strong past-life and a history.  Very good use of "Texas metaphors."  Work it, baby ... work it ...™

This is pretty good.  Would like to hear it.  Couple of nits:

The bright lights in Texas

their they’re calling my name

oil and finer things     <- never thought of oil as a finer thing, does this refer to money that oil brings?

then one-night a dream came            <- the meter in these two lines does not seem to match the other verses

and to my surprise--

And a question:  What happened in the dream to cause a life change?

Good looking catchy piece. A couple of suggestions : - V1 The bright lights of Texas calling out my name. and  cowboys, horses rodeos and rides upon the plain.

Chorus I wanna be a ranger, the open roads to ride

trying all the finer things that Texas oil provides.

I also think for some genres, you don't have to be too analytical. Let's face it, if Marc Bolan got away with " Did you ever see a woman coming out of New York city with a frog in her hand" or some such like, there's hope for us all.

Thanks so much Takoda, I made some changes, let me know what you think about the changes. About your question, what happened in his dream, It's more of daydreaming, but I thought night fit better than day in that sentence, so maybe daydreaming at night time, it can happen, I do it all the time lol . He just got tired of living the life he had, and realized Texas has more to offer him.:)
