What Are You Listening To Right Now ?

This is supposed to be about music.

If you are not listening right now, then you can say ‘nothing’. You might be hearing traffic, or the complaining of your spouse, but are you listening to it?

Americans: This is not an excuse to list every artist, band you ever heard since you were 7 years old. Unless you are a genius like Charles Ives, you are not actively listening to more than one piece of music at a time. Am I guilty of national stereotyping here? The answer is yes. I wonder why that is?

Ideas:

1/ It would be pretty good if you were listening to a Songstuff artist.

2/ If you can listen to the contents of your head without any music playing. That’s ok, but say so.

3/ You can listen to yourself, if you are unbearably vain.

I am listening to Void by BrainClaim (SS member) https://soundcloud.com/brain-claim

A few minutes ago, I was just listening to @chumpy's song and commenting on it: http://forums.songstuff.com/topic/46639-a-sense-of-the-absurd/#comment-309066

Now I'm listening to two songs:

  1. Guns&Roses, I didn't know that Axl's voice came back from retirement - such a pleasant surprise.
  2. Tronicbox' 80's Remix of "Cool For The Summer" by Demi Lovato.

There was a time I was constantly bombarding my brain with some form of music. The radio was always  on. Lately I've started to treat it more like a good dessert. I listen occasionally. Lately I have so much going on, so much external stimuli at my job and at home, music is just one more thing clouding the water.

The really scary thing is, there isn't much I want to hear.

If they told me music was going to run out tomorrow, I'm not sure what I would listen to.

The last things I listened to were simple well played acoustic songs.

It normal when getting a bit older. It helps to explore. Expose yourself to other music.

Im not listening to anything right now, but if I was it would be this... ( listen to his spoken intro about the 2nd line rhythms)

@Rudi, I'm not sure if it's because of the pop songs I've been listening to my whole life, but when I heard that Dr. John performance, I felt like my brain was going to explode from information overload. What genre was that?

Not exactly today, but for the last few days, I've been listening to my SoundCloud likes while I mud, sand, clean and paint.  There are are a number of SS member songs that are on my "likes" list (5 different members  songs that I can think of at the moment)  A lot are just SoundCloud discoveries.  Some are songs by writers from other forums.  I actually prefer to listen to my SoundCloud selection over the radio or a cd (lately anyway).
