How Many Strings Does Your Bass Have?

I use a Washburn 5 string, RB2500. I used to use a 4 string Westone Thunder II, i would never go back to 4, the low B is soooo cool, especially for songs in drop D tuning. I'm a piano and keyboard player too, so its also nice to be able to get a low C!!

When I was in Two and a Half WeeKs I used a 4 (Ibanez) and a 5 (Schecter), talk about confusing.

Stan, the bassist in our band replaced his old axe with a (much superior) 5 string a year ago. He could'nt get on with it and has now re-jigged it as a 4 string. I felt it a shame he didnt rise to the challenge.

It does take a bit of getting used to, when I first started with my 5 I would always jump back to the wrong string, when I was switching back and forth it started again, until I decided to use the 4 as my drop D go to, when I used different axes for different songs it really helped (unless of course the guy introducing the songs doesn't know which ones I switch and I was constantly switching on the fly

Sadly, the one bass I own is without a matching amp, and so is currently languishing in storage Also it was a bit on the cheap side, but until I have more than the basic skills that transfer straight from guitar I can't justify buying a new one... Sadness... It did give me the opportunity to right a bass line for my old band which made use of the low b, alot, just to annoy the bassist!
