  1. Truth is, I really want to get out of Cincinnati, regardless. 'Thought NYC would be the place, but based off of what I've been reading, it doesn't sound so well. High expenses. Seems like a place for the rich. Really disappointing.
  2. I'm really serious about music and I intend to move to NY, hopefully next year. Thing is, Buffalo, NY is a lot closer than NYC. From what I've read, Buffalo is the second largest city in New York, with NYC obviously being the largest. I want to pursue music in the big apple, but at the same time, I wonder if I'd do just as well in Buffalo. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. Born and raised, but I'm determined to leave this place and start new somewhere. I think Buffalo and Cincinnati are the same size. So should I move to New York City instead?
  3. Thanks for your response. Are you talking about one of those talent agencies? I haven't really looked into any of those. I'm really new to gigs and such. I was doing open mics before, but that was frustrating because I'd drive to places, and they'd either be in a shady looking area, or I couldn't be there because I'm under 21, or, the open mic just ended, OR...I never even got to play. So, I just decided to just stick to trying to get gigs, but no luck with that. No one's responded, and the couple that have just said no because I don't have a following. So, I'm left dumbfounded, thinking, "How am I to get a following without playing live?" I don't really know what to do now. I figured that maybe if I called these booking agents, that would at least increase my chances of getting booked. So yeah, i just don't know what to do now.
  4. So, I've tried a few times on getting booked here in the city that I live in. So far, Ive been booked twice in a different city that's two hours from here. I've sent out e-mails, but I'm wondering if I should take a different approach or what? I have CDs that I'm sharing with others, but, maybe contacting a booking agent by e-mail isn't the best way to try to get booked. What do you think?
  5. Thanks everyone for your response. I posted this awhile ago,and my first live performance was November 27th of last year. So far, I've played live 6 times and I love it! I look forward to improving and new experience. I self-released a CD,and that was what really pushed me to play. I have to admit, on my first performance, I drunk a little wine to help ease my nerves a bit. It definitely helped. Haven't done that since though. It feels natural to get up and play and I love it very much. Feel free to listen to my music here.
  6. How do I build the confidence to sing in front of others? I'm really bashful about it, and I think it's because no one's ever heard me sing, but I always thought if I could make a CD and let others hear my songs, then maybe I'd be more comfortable with singing, but then I often wonder if being a performer is even suited for me. Any ideas?
  7. Originally, I was going to do an EP. That was the plan I thought of like...2-3 years ago. Now, I'd rather do an album because I have written so much, and an EP wouldn't be enough to perform with... Plus, I'd rather have an album because there's more on it and wouldn't feel as pressured to have "good songs" unlike an EP. If that makes any sense. As for cars...I'm far more than just 'point A to point B'. I'm definitely not that type of driver. I like to ride in style. Some people just don't care about what they drive, but I do. :-P I really want to perform my songs someday, but an EP just wouldn't do it. I'd like to play at least 12 original songs of mine.
  8. True, true. I am worried if my heart isn't there. I think it is though because I'm always thinking and daydreaming about music and performing my songs in front of audiences and sharing my songs with others and stuff, and then I have an interest in cars too. You're right. I could certainly do both, but financially, I can't afford it. I'm not making enough money. I'm trying to get a 2nd job to support both hobbies, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Everytime I think about it, I get very discouraged and feel like there's no future. It's a very depressing feeling.
  9. Lately, I have been drifting from music quite a bit and getting more into cars for whatever reason. I want to focus more on my music but I need some tips on doing so. How can I stop liking cars so much? I've been working on my album for a few months and I'm hoping to have it all completed and packaged before the end of the year so I can start performing. Any advice?
