  1. I don't like my voice very much, but...I love singing, and I'd hate for someone else to be singing my songs. I think it may come from years of being told to shut up and study by my parents, who aren't at all musically inclined. Now though they changed their tune! (oh goodness, no pun intended...) Some days I feel like I can't sing at all, and some days I seem to be totally at ease and able to sing almost anything...very bizarre. I wish most of all though that it had a bit more character. It just seems so nothingy.
  2. Hello everyone! I guess I just feel old because I have seven younger brothers and sisters! And now I don't have the excuse of being a moody teenager if I have a tantrum....I've got to be responsible now! *sigh* haha! I study French, Spanish and European studies. It's all rather vague, a bit pic n mix, but I only have a year to go. Thanks for the nice (re)welcome!
  3. I'm not strictly a first time poster, I did join a little while ago, but I've been abroad since and my laptop got stolen...so that was the end of that! Anyway, armed with a new laptop and some new slightly rubbish songs, I'd love to properly become a part of this little songwriting community. I'm Suzi by the way, a third year British student currently studying in Spain. Just turned 20 (scarily!) but still feel about thirteen. I play guitar mainly, just acoustic at the mo since my beloved ibanez is back in the UK. I also have a ukulele and a melodica with me (which are mildly hilarious instruments) and I love to play the piano when I can, but I don't have one in my student house back home, nor could I get one on the plane, so the opportunities are few and far between So that's me... I'm looking forward to listening to everyone's music and hopefully learning a few things!
  4. i've started a few with friends but we end up singing about happy goats or getting too drunk to function. the guys only wanna be in the band for the women and the girls are just playing out some blondie fantasy so they never get past the third practice or so! i don't really go to an artsy uni though so it's really hard to find poeple with the same kind of mindset! well, i want to move to canada (somehow...) after my degree, so if neither of us are rock stars by then we should start a band!!!
  5. my music taste is varied, i guess top artists would include ben folds fiive, sleater-kinney, tori amos, the moutnain goats, architecture in helsinki, elliott smith, ella fitzgerald, regina spektor, the cure etc... i could go on as could we all but i'll spare you! at the moment it's just me and my acoustic guitar, writing indie-ish, alternative acoustic girly songs i suppose. would love to get a proper band together though and actually put my ibanez to some use!
  6. I'm at Bath but I'm actually a Devonshire girl! Lived in land of carpets (axminster!) for ages, now my ma has moved to the devon/dorset border and my pa to exmouth, and this summer i'm sort of flitting between the two. Missing Bath and Bristol pubs and gigs but Devon is ace (I get to work in a shop on the beach!). Big up the Westcountry!
  7. hello, i'm new here and it looks like this is the place to start! i basically wanted to find a place where i can learn from other people who have the same kind of passion for music that i do, but probably with a bit more talent! i'm 19, a uni student from the south of england (language and culture) and i play guitar/write songs (hah try to!) anyway, it's nice to find a community like this!
