Music has brought me up from some dark place no doubt. Whether it be the rhythmic strumming my guitar or the release of burdening thoughts through songwriting music is almost always a cathartic experience.

I've be writing at an insane pace for a little over a year now. Im wondering if you guys/girls have any input on the process. I have tons of ideas and unfinished songs but it seems like the possibilities are endless. Each one could go so many different ways i find myself unable to decide where to take them, and how. When do you know that a melody is right or finished? How do you decided between two different phrasings instinct i guess? Basically i have a pile of inspiration and don't know where to go from here.
Any thoughts would be great!

thats how it happens for me too, ill write a song in about half an hour, ill find a phrase i like then go with it, mumbling words sounds nonsense until its all out of me. the i go back and piece it together

i stray away from most internet communities for many reasons but for this one i will stick around. A friendly and genuine group of people and an expanse of songwriting information. One of the few sites you can get a respectfully honest review for nothing. -Ryan
