  1. Guitar ergonomics are often overlooked & unappreciated. I think it likely Les Paul was more concerned with that when he put chambered wings onto the log. SO this is a MIDI device that needs your sounds. Does it modulate the sounds? Pressure sensitive? Pitch bend?
  2. Very engaging review Mike. Glad its going well. I checked out some of your links (Ztar etc) too. Fine examples!
  3. Well its ok now. Its hard to know what helped because there is nothing to compare it to. Coconut oil may have helped it. I cant even be sure its over because it doesnt really go away completely. I hope your church pal gets some relief. I'd say try the coconut oil & vitmin C
  4. Is there any medication for boxcar willie?
  5. You have a good ear because your pitch is pretty good. It sounds as if you are singing quietly. Even quiet, it sounds good enough to work for recording. Maybe even live? You will probably find that later on, you’ll want your voice to project more. So it’s not a bad idea sing louder now. When you do sing louder, you will probably want to sing higher (ie: change key upward). Singing through a microphone in a noisy venue, makes me sing at the top of my voice usually, but like most people, when I am at home, I tend to sing much quieter. I mention this because your surroundings make a difference you how you sing. It can come as a bit of a shock when you ‘have to’ sing loud. You voice is pleasant. Much nicer than mine.
  6. It was written by Roger Miller. Roger also recorded it originally.
  7. I just had a look. What odd corners an alcoves songstuff has.
  8. PP, I had wrongly assumed you were already laying a guitar track separately. So my suggestion was to create 2 simpler guitar tracks instead of 1 harder one. However, if you need the performance vibe of playing & singing together as the 'one take', I understand that completely. Just be aware that there are always other options as posters have pointed out here. In this case, I have an idea that may help. I know what its like to focus on one song exclusively. It can become consuming; maddening even. You could try to put another song into work and work on both in tandem. Yes I know you have been working on two already but it should be a different kind of song with a different feel. The idea is to get a break from one emotional state by replacing it with another different one. Now, it could make life more difficult if you are trying to juggle with too much in your head. Or, it could have the desired effect by 'snapping you out' of the rut that's constraining you. If you can return to your original song with fresher impetus, you might find it easier to work with. Whats that got to do with getting the guitar part right? Its hard to explain, but a complete break can reorder and focus your thinking wonderfully. Just a suggestion. Good luck
  9. I know how you feel. Work something good out and then it all goes pear shaped at recording. Have you considered using 2 tracks for guitar? How about using your regular accompaniment (that is failing) just as a guide track (I assume you are also using a click track?). Then add other simpler guitar accompaniment, with an optional further guitar track to flesh it out? Delete the guide track before saving out.
  10. Wow F-Troop! I forgot about F-Troop for more than 50 years! What a plunge back in time! Of course Mission Impossible is incredible. Its maybe the best of the few tunes ever written in 5/4. How about a John Sabastian song (written & sung)?
  11. Looks like you have better gear than my band. We are also 7 piece with everyone except drums & bass going through PA. Singer has one powered foldback mon BG vocal (no monitor) Baritone & Alto saxes 2 mics - through PA but share one mon Keys & Guitar use personal amps as mons. We soundcheck twice. Once for sax blend. Again for whole band. We have no 'overall' monitor. Though occasionally we hire a sound engineer who runs everything through his own PA/mixer/desk. I didnt even know about IEM. Doesnt sound like something I'd personally want to be using. Glad you are all back together & moving forwards
  12. I had a look when you first posted John. I dont really get what Pinterest is. Just an ongoing sequence of generated data?
  13. I love this bit of Tex Mex Robinson Crusoe had a appealing tune

  15. Well, I think it shows that I made it too hard. Perhaps I should have put more lyrics in there? Well done for getting one.
  16. I was hoping that people would guess some of the tunes from the lines. I didnt make that clear I suppose. Thats the only reason why its 'old pop'. Did you get any? Nice selection there of yours: The 1st link wont work for me Tom. I discovered the song & artist though. Not heard of 2 & 3 at all before. I had forgot about 4. Beautiful. Thanks for reminding me. I still didn’t recognise it from the line you posted though. So I got Zero out of 4! You got me Tom. I haven't revealed your songs in case someone else wants to guess 'em.
  17. Damn! That stinks. I've not heard of Instrument 1. Hope to hear more soon
  18. hmm!? I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed 9s. Maybe I did restring it with 10s?
  19. no one? ok. I'll just head over to the Gibson forum for now.
  20. Since my self imposed exile from Song-Title-Connection-Game, I considered some of those song lines that constantly buzz around my head. Most are too obscure to guess, so here are some well known pop song examples. They are all old because I haven’t listened to pop for years & years & years... There are 10. The links will take you to the songs. If you know all 10, you may not want to admit it….. 1/ a cup of cold coffee and a piece of cake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwDzFbAlKWE 2/ man I was mean but I’m changing my scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvMQWte5pik 3/ take the blue train all the way to Kokomo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBd93pJRJ54 4/ The constable had to come and take him away https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voIWNMnpDu8 5/ Telling tales of drunkenness and cruelty https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLs09J_x6-c 6/ Mr McCann was a practical man. 21. Your vocalist plays guitar. It looks as though you do also. Do you really need another (lead) guitar? Could one of you two take that role on? Whereabouts in England are you? (If you’re within shouting distance of Portsmouth I’ll fill in myself!)
  22. It goes around doesnt it? After that war you marched to Canada to liberate them from the British. But they liked us and kicked yer ass all the way back home again.
  23. only when I have to. Rarely finish one unless I plan to record.
