  1. Thats Alright Mama - Jerry Garcia & Friends (1972) live in Texas
  2. Odd, Ive never seen it it written as 1 word. S'pose it must be a UK/US conflict? Yep. That’s it. I’ve just typed ‘alright’ into MS Word and it thinks it is correct. 'Alright' probably never occured to Free either, as they were a British band.
  3. ok I'll PM you with it. If you dont get it before saturday, SHOUT at me.
  4. Good Friend of Mine - Family it was only on the B side of a single, but its my favourite song by Family.
  5. David, I can take a look and see what that patch-chain is if you like. Just let me know and then give me a day or 2.
  6. Just thought I would say that I was in this shop yesterday (your link). As for effects chains. I set one up on my aged GT5 before reading the advice in the manual. I had got it all wrong of course, but its one of my favourite patches and I use it extensively playing live.
  7. Well there are still the Japanese then. Its still a big market. I make my music freely available & dont feel too badly about this myself. Its a game changer for the career driven though.
  8. I constantly bounce between musical confidence and insecurity. For me it was the breakup of my marriage that made me re-evaluate myself in all respects. I too, took up a martial art. I did Shotokan Karate for 15 years. I am having a similar re-evaluation right now due to another life changing event. Oddly enough I am not turning to music, or not yet anyway. 80 songs in a month. That's a tall order. Our bassist had to learn our set list in a day. Obviously it he just had to busk most of it. If those 80 songs were jazz ballads I would be scared I think. Fortunately soul, rock or country are a lot simpler. Its the arrangements that will cause the headaches probably. Who starts? Where are the stops? Are there key changes? etc. Good luck with those songs.
  9. I don't think I have access to that. I cant do something to enable a more emotive performance. It is possible to simulate it to a certain extent. Ive seen lots of artists do this & I'm sure you have too, but you can tell the difference right? An outwardly spirited or energetic performance is not an emotional performance. An emotional performance is more likely to be subtle. It will move you without you being aware of it at first. Faced with an indifferent audience, I know I have tried this too. Its damned hard work, but I don't like doing it. Sometimes playing well will touch me emotionally and it will develop into a more emotional performance. I don't think I have ever done this using my voice though. It either happens or it doesn't. For me anyway.
  10. When Push Comes To Shove - Grateful Dead
  11. Hi TripMX, Just curious. You seem to be just gathering the first volunteers to your project. No quality control or creative input on your part? good luck Rudi
  12. this or Hartley's Old English Thick cut (Seville orange) gets my vote.
  13. I think it should be a songstuff article (if Mike agrees of course).
  14. a lot depends on what your objectives are. You ask a sensible question. You dont want to spend hours practicing scales if all you need is to understand & employ harmony better. Because that is what might happen. A lot of teachers will teach you what they want to teach instead of what you want to learn. What are you after really?
  15. Even better when you know how. Thanks John
  16. Please do John. I realise that it has something to do with the resonant frequency of water, but the amount of flow displacement is incredible. The shape even looks like a sine wave. It can’t be though can it? So, (ahem..) spill it!
  17. Fantastic. I cant work out whats going on. This is going to bug me now
  18. Woodchopper's Ball : Woody Herman and his Orchestra
  19. I'm trying to give hooks a holiday. Its not easy when your instincts are rooted in hooks. Most writers want to grab attention, keep attention and even create ear-worms maybe. For all these things you need hooks.
  20. Darren, A condenser mic is best. I have used stage mics but they are built for abuse, not care & fidelity. Rudi (AKA Unwise Bill)
  21. Hi Darren, I dont know much about the gear/software you are using, but suggest trying a direct line in first and see how you get on. This is the easiest way to get a clean controllable signal. Using a mic is no black art, but it can take a lot of experimentation to get the best results, and the set-up is dependent on so many variables, not least room acoustics. Unless you are lucky, you also might find that you are forever chasing out odd intrusive hisses & rumbles. Sorry, I know nothing about 'logic'. I have never tried using an apogee mic either.
  22. Whenever Ive had a pro studio record me, they always mic the speakers really close in. At about an inch from the grill. If any patches are used, they insist on using speaker simulation of some sort with it.
  23. I mostly modify patches from Boss GT5 & GT6. I have yet to find a nice jazz tone. Boss just cater to heavy metal wannabes really. I have yet to successfully mic an acoustic guitar properly too. I tend to get fed up searching for the 'ideal' tone and settle for less.
