  1. Jack Daniels Old No 7 - Heads, Hands & Feet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqFxPqFZe5I I've been wanting to post up one of these for a while.
  2. Hi James, Not come across a Super Locrian. A Locrian is as follows: Key of C C Dflat Eflat F Gflat Aflat Bflat (oct C) Key of B (all naturals) B C D E F G A (oct B ) What is it you are doing with this scale? Mike’s point is that this needs to be in a suitable musical context.
  3. The neck report surprises me. I had thought they were all standard. I always found my old strat neck too narrow for my liking.
  4. Last year. The PA's speaker leads needed replacing. One jack was bent nearly 90 degrees, and both ends were held on with tape. So I bought new ones. Month later I find the guys still using the old crap ones because they 'stretch a bit further'. Words fail me....
  5. Yes, there is a bass simulator on my BR1600. It lowers the frequency of a guitar to that of a bass. It’s not bad but I needed a bass. Another thing about the bass is I have to keep the lines very simple. It’s the only way I can get into a bass player groove. If I attempt anything fancy I’ll drift across the rhythm instead of on it. That tele livery is tasty!
  6. Ramble On from vol 2. I once worked out Moby Dick. No vocal problems with that one.
  7. ouch! You just cant tell Mike. I have a Chinese made Squier Jazz Bass. It came perfectly set up & tuned straight out of its gaudy cardboard box. It plays well & has a much better signal than the Dillion Dagger I got to replace it. The Dagger now just takes up room like some pretty ornament. Anyway, its great that you got a pukka tele! Is that a maple neck? Any chance of a pic?
  8. Postbox - Miss Sunshine A double score I think. Door: Postbox / Sunshine: Storm Sorry the song is a little bland though
  9. You can sing, but if you 'dont know what to do with your voice', how can anyone else? Honestly, you could get a dozen different opinions here. What would you do with them? Roll dice? If I could sing like you, I would know exactly what to do with it. Does that make me lucky or you? Some questions should remain unasked. If you lack the motivation and the insight to take the next step then you are not ready for it. Keep trying stuff out and wait until you have no choice except one.
  10. Its not normal but it happens all the time anyway
  11. The late lamented conservatory: The beer bottles used to explode sometimes. It used to wake us up at night sometimes. Consider then, what beer does to your insides at night. Where the conservatory was, now stands a kitchen. The kitchen has much better acoustics than the conservatory ever did. I’m a kitchen trained musician. Re: Pinstripes. The closest I ever got to a pinstripe whistle was a herringbone jacket & grey flannel round-me-houses. I recall a New Scientist cover once had a pinstripe suit on the front to illustrate string theory. So pinstripes could lead to an improved understanding of the universe.
  12. I am the most serious musician here. There is no room in my house for levity. There was a conservatory attached once. It was a place to tend plants, mature homemade beer and share a joke with neighbours. I had to be knocked down of course.
  13. I have 3 suits. 2 of em dont fit anymore. A linen one for holidays. A black one for funerals. The one that does fit is an evening suit. No room for a pinstripe in the wardrobe or in my head. Nice dance. Looks energetic.
  14. well I know mine is. The same is true of these young guys. Here is a band from my local Portsmouth, that tours internationally 12 months out of the year. Their image is absolutely unparalleled.
  15. Mike, I have just re-read this, and also listened to the your link to Red Garland's 'Exactly Like You'. I am still trying to hear what you mean in Bill Evans and Keith Richards. I know your right because I can feel it, but my ear is not good enough to identify it for myself. Your insight is staggering. I thought it was about time I told you so.
  16. Once upon a time, when there was always an expectation of 'the next big thing', all you had to do was be there. It happened about every 6 years. Then someone cheated and invented it. Once that was realised, there never really was any next big thing anymore. Well there have been candidates, but they were unable to flourish, because everything concerning the media has become so fragmented since then. Its a shame too, because 'the endless stream of sh*t' referred to by David Crosby (this was exemplified by 'White Xmas' in his example) is certainly back with a vengeance today and the time is ripe for something *real. *not contrived or straightjacketed. But fame by this means seems to be a byproduct of what you do; not an objective in itself. If I'm honest, wishing for fame seems to be what x factor is for. Why not just apply?
  17. Green and Orange Night Park - The Keith Tippet Group (this wont be anywhere in the archives)
  18. Its probably one of my own pieces 'Flamingo'. That's why there is still no recording yet. However, Dallas Rag is always a pig to play. This is my attempt here: ...and this is Dave Laibman's version on YouTube
  19. Do you realise how tempting it is to put up FUN FUN FUN at this point? Joybringer - Manfred Mann's Earth Band http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=YouTube+joybringer+manfred+mann%27s+earth+band&qs=n&form=QBVR&pq=youtube+joybringer+manfred+mann%27s+earth+band&sc=0-8&sp=-1&sk=#view=detail&mid=B8457F47C51F38FA8A52B8457F47C51F38FA8A52
  20. Mike, I too have irrational feelings of musical inadequacy sometimes. But no instrument is that good. They may become objects of desire, but they are still just tools after all.
  21. Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears for Fears
  22. Is that so? Perhaps what I use is not modern enough then. I'm using a Boss BR-1600. Even if what you say was possible, it would only be of use if the musician could duplicate his performance exactly. Where rallentando changes occur, that is always going to be a problem.
  23. hmm.. figures! <schoolboy type sniggering> The Letter - The Box Tops (I used to think this was the Animals)
  24. Tom has won so many times by making everyone scratch heads while the thread stands still for a few days. I think he has earned the right to throw in Achy Breaky, the Birdy Song and YMCA too if he wants too. Rosey - String Cheese Incident
