  2. Welcome to Songstuff Good to have you aboard.
  3. Hi Guys Do any of you work to a release plan for your music, or even a task list... or is it just... the music is done, let’s get it packaged up and issued ASAP? I ask because the latter dominates indie music, and it’s one of the key differentiators between indie music and mainstream music. Yes, there are many components involved ina release, but the plan is what coordinates those activities. They make dependency obvious. It is amazing how much coordination is underestimated. Cheers John
  4. @Steve Mueske and @MonoStone would surely be interested for a start.
  5. Have you sent out any invites to any known electronic music devotees?
  6. For me it is the scope of creativity. It has some limitations, but those limitations are constantly overcome. The sheer breadth and depth and possibilities, is immense. Expression and sound takes me to such interesting spaces. It teases emotion and demands attention. What’s not to love?
  7. Skiffle is a specific kind of music with blues, jazz, folk and American folk influences. It originated in the US, but underwent a very popular revival in the UK
  8. Do you ever video your gigs Rudi?
  9. Welcome to our family Johny, take a load off... looking forward to hearing your tunes.

    Geraint Luff

Singer and piano player Geraint is based in Cambridge (UK). He is interested in arranging and mixing, and work a lot with digital audio. His parents bought him his first piece of composing software when I was 8, because at the time it seemed that he was more interested in creating something new than practising scales on the piano. He still writes most of his music using his piano. In addition to music, Geraint loves mathematics and programming. He has also developed an interest in creating audio plug-ins, such as synths and effects. The fact that when he creates a plug-in he gets to combine music, maths and programming, is just the icing on the cake.
  11. Awesome! Did you you say you were tempted to do a bunch of tutorials! What for Songstuff too?
  12. You can always do live EPs and live albums. Horses for courses. I know a studio album can be over processed, clinical... so I get it... but it then becomes about the songs. Are they just left to fade and be forgotten? Or do you record and preserve them... for friends and family, for yourself for when the day comes when you cant remember the words, or can no longer play... because both are likely to happen. It’s just a matter of when.
  13. Welcome to our family fishy good to have you with us
  14. Hey All Anybody planning an EP or album? Gigs or tours? What do you plan for 2018? I don’t tend to think about “success” so much as I think of progress. I would like to be playing live more, and I do intend recording a collection of tracks that I would bundle as an album, this year and next. Touring is not realistic, though one or two more far flung gigs is certainly possible. I haven’t prioritised my own music for years, so 2018 should see me being much more active in engaging listeners. It is great to be back recording, but it feels strange too. Something I used to do on a daily basis, but then time just seemed to evaporate. Onwards and upwards. I have a few draft recordings on the go, and a load more to do. Studio this afternoon! Cheers John
  15. Hi Joe, welcome to our family!

  17. Hi Noct, good to have you join our family. Awesome. What DAW do you currently use?
  18. Next level, the club would be visible, but none of the contents would be. There is no way to make a single topic hidden. just now all is visible, but not postable... my guess is that you make the club visible but all contents hidden. Then create a showcase topic for each challenge in the members showcase, or in the musicians lounge. With that level of club, members need to be approved by you. Just say and I will make the change.
  19. Done... members can see the club, but have to join to post is that what you want?
  20. Hey hey hey Goodshot.... welcome to our home pull up a chair, warm your feet by the fire

I would prefer to discuss the individual site improvements of overall strategy in separate threads, and look at the many positive changes that we can take further. To both Rudi and Mike, if you ever read this, I would say... all the very best and I wish you well in whatever you do. I can’t pretend to know exactly why you decided not to be here, but I am damn sure neither of you wish ill upon the site. Rudi, many thanks, because if nothing else, your message sparked this conversation. Many thanks to all for this discussion, your observations and suggestions.
