  1. A quick question, when you posted this cover, what are you looking for? People to listen? Critique on your performance? Fans for your YouTube channel?
  2. Hi and welcome to Songstuff Ms Duck What Peggy said ... Songstuff is a large site with a lot going on. This topic might be of use to you: Any questions, please just ask a member of staff.
  3. Oh and, love your voice btw!
  4. hey Amy, welcome to Songstuff! These topics might help you to make sense of this big ol' place: If you have any questions at all, the staff are all friendly and willing to help, so please just ask myself, @Peggy or @Mahesh. @Lisa Gates is also a member of staff but she is temporarily less active on the boards and so may take longer to respond.
  5. hey Tuhin, welcome to Songstuff! Do you play? Write? Produce? What is your interest in music?
  6. Hey Nikolas, a big welcome to Songstuff What are your music interests? Writer? Musician? Do you have any goals for your music? I started Songstuff in 2000 to try and help writers, artists, musicians, and others involved in music to achieve their goals. In the beginning it was focused on me passing on my own knowledge and experience through articles and tutorials, but pretty soon I added this community. From experience, the more you put in, the more you are likely to get out of it. It really does help if you make your experience and your goals as open as possible. It helps keep them on the radar. Ideally, add all that info to your About Me profile page. The more we know about you, the more likely someone in the community will connect with you about achieving your goals. Dive in!
  7. Hey Norton, welcome to Songstuff. Great to meet you. How can we help you?
  8. You are welcome. It is good to have good self-awareness
  9. Hey Niklas, Welcome to Songstuff. I’m glad you decided to join us. An interesting mix of influences. I’m looking forward to hearing your music. Learning how to use music software and gear is something we all have to do. Not just at the beginning, but in an ongoing basis. I call that good fun though!
  10. I usually have a bunch of songs going a the same time, all at different stages. That way if inspiration just isn't firing or ideas just aren't working, or my mood is just wrong for the song or task at hand, I can switch. I have full songs plus learning pastiches (just mock ups of the sections or key changes of a song that has something interesting in it. could be a sound, overall production, a musical change, arrangement detail, a new flavour, an effect, a synthesis. I don't need to do the whole song to learn. Just the interesting bit, so sometimes it is a couple of song sections, sometimes a couple of bars), I have lyrics or melodies, arrangements, productions, all different stages. that way I let my muse work on what it is tuned for. When I was hired to do something and working to schedule that doesn't work quite so well but it still works.
  11. Just to add to the confusion, ABC as a named form is verse, chorus and bridge, usually as ABABCAB as the overall song form... however using ABC as your section names is perfectly fine. Have you read Songstuff's articles on song form and song sections? There's a bunch here: https://www.songstuff.com/song-writing/article/
  12. Still sounds like a plan. I wasn’t meaning the fame game. Sometimes plans are about success, though success means many things to many people. More often plans are just a simple plan about going in a rough direction, nothing more It can be just fun, building a small following, releasing a vanity EP, a vinyl 12 inch, hearing your song on radio, getting songs recorded, playing a gig, recording in a studio, playing a sister’s wedding, getting our music heard, having our music well received or sharing it with people in whatever way makes sense. We generally plan, or at least hope for something for our music other than it sitting on a shelf. Don’t get me wrong, I think if professional goals are realistic, you can make a good living out of music, but it takes time to build, knowledge, and a lot of hard work. Certainly no get rich quick scheme. The fact that you stand a better chance of winning top prize in a lottery than becoming a big celebrity is a sobering thought but sadly too many still believe in chasing that dream, betting everything on it. Weirdly even more still hold out a vain hope that it will be presented to them on a silver platter. I was simply asking because in knowing the goals of new members, whatever they are, maybe we might be able to help in some way. It’s certainly harder to do that if we don’t ask. I didn’t mean to come over all “snake oil salesman” lol
  13. Thanks Cody. A closet Gaga, huh? lol Why did those particular tracks make your list?
  14. Another set of interesting choices and some great tracks. You don't really say why those particular tracks made your list?

    Funk bass

He's enjoying playing but there's also an element of "I know. I'm awesome, huh?" lol
  16. Hi Gang A big part of our strategy going forward is to build outlets to build audiences for our members and more generally independent music creators. In addition to Songstuff presence on social media (which faces artists, musicians, producers, creators) we have been building a chain of social media pages and accounts expressly for the purpose of providing a stage for independent music. In other words, it faces fans, not creators. The idea is simple. By having Songstuff and it's family of portals and pages, we can talk to creators and hear some great up and coming music. Meanwhile, via Songstuff UK and the Songstuff Independent Music Stage we are creating an outlet to promote the music of our members and more generally the independent music community. Keeping them separate makes a big difference. Fans talk about music differently than artists do. They think of it differently. Of course, as an artist you are almost certainly also a music fan. So please: Join our group for music lovers: Songstuff Independent Music Stage as a fan. Please invite other music fans. Anyone passionate about music. And please join our music page for music creators: Songstuff Music Stage and Songstuff Playlists Submit your music to these two creator pages to have your track considered for inclusion on our playlists Cheers John
  17. Hey Laura! Welcome to Songstuff Do you have plans for your music?
  18. Hey Kiko, welcome to Songstuff! It's nice to mmeet you. Can you tell us something about you, your music, your aims etc? It means we get to know you and how we can help. If you are looking for feedback you will get more plays by posting to one of our critique boards. You are expected to listen to other member's songs and give them honest, helpful feedback. Also, if you just paste your YouTube link it will auto embed a YouTube player and you will get more plays of your song. I'd also suggest including your lyrics in your post. The easier you can make it for members to give you feedback, the more likely you are to have members listening, reading and making comment. Cheers John

    Funk bass

Immensely talented. He makes it look so effortless. That's the story of busking. Highs of attracting a crowd to "might as well be playing in the desert" lol That said it can teach you a lot about working a crowd as a performer. You go from being a musician to being a performer. Getting attention and keeping attention from an audience who arrive pretty well disinterested. They only have the sound of your music reaching them before they see you to get warmed up to the idea of staying to listen to you play. It also helps teach the importance of "right place, right time"!
