  1. Hey Boski Welcome to Songstuff
  2. What are you planning to use them for? Studio recording? Live work? Just exploring and having some fun?
  3. Hi and welcome Calectic, great to have you with us... I am looking forward to hearing some awesome songs! I mainly do a mix between acoustic and electronic music, but I have done quite a bit of electronic music, mainly chill out, starting in about 1992. Before that I played multiple genres but mainly rock and acoustic. Music is a life long passion. It cools in few, and usually resurfaces. Anyway, good to meet you,
  4. Awwww nice of you to say Kel.
  5. Heya Tony, welcome to the Songstuff family!
  6. A keyboard makes everything pretty accessible. It might feel harder to learn but really, after learning a few basics piano is a very accessible instrument. Mike is right, it is practice, but any instrument takes practice. Even as a second instrument (recommended musicians play at least 2) piano is brilliant.... but as a way of interacting with a computer or mobile based recording system.... it is damn useful.
  7. There is a USB port on your Tascam, but as far as I am aware that is to allow it to be connected to a computer to transfer files, not as a recording input. Did someone advise you to buy these two bits of gear? Because as far as I can tell they do not work together. To give you better advice I have a few questions: 1. Do you play any instruments? 2. Do you plan going places to record, or just record at home? How important is mobile recording? 3. Is your computer a tablet, laptop or desktop? 4. Windows Android iOS? Cheers John

    Hey

I think the threshold is 5 posts before you can add a signature. It could be 10, I will check to confirm. We added this to address a problem with spammers who would join, make a couple of safe posts in busy topics, wait until their reply had dropped and then add a signature full of spam links. Making this change pretty well stopped it cold. The way spammers work is that if one gets away with something on a forum, a week later 20 do it, a week later it’s 200... so better this than drowning in useless posts from drive by posters leaving spam links

  11. Here’s the thing regarding indie marketing.... if you need it in 6 months, you should be building it now so that it is ready. the common indie journey is: spend ages getting music ready, to a good standard slap together some marketing a few days before release (if at all) release it to a flat line response except from family and immediate friends be disappointed coming up in there early new year we will be providing a lot of indie accessible marketing plans and strategies on Songstuff. I think you will love it!
  12. That’s a pity. The issue was more the condition then? Or do you think it was down to bad design by Marshall? My amp was a 100 Watt head. It was a valve head, that used a few different valve types. It was a looooong time ago but I seem to recall the power valves were 4 x EL34s or something like that. It had a Master Volume conversion (borrowing from the later Master Volume model) to get distortion at lower volumes. Pretty valuable now, if only I had kept it! I later had a wonderful Peavy Renown 400, which was a powerful transistor amp, versatile, dependable and solid. Great amp that it was, and I miss it too, it is the Marshall I find myself really missing. I also had a great Ovation 12 string, 6 string and a Gibson Les Paul, US Custom, white with gold fittings. I loved that Gibson. Combined with the Marshall it was great for doing Paul Kosoff or Jimmy Page styled blues rock.
  13. I miss my Marshall Stack. It was a 1970 head with the master volume conversion, plus two 4x12 speaker cabs. A bit much for small venues, but an awesome sound
  14. Loving my new pute!

  15. Hi Adley! Welcome to the Songstuff family!
  16. It used to be if not specifically registered there were pretty major limitations on protections and specifically the amount and type of compensation you could claim. I had thought Donald Trumps new bill about copyright had changed registration to a requirement if you wanted to be able to have any protection at all
  17. I doubt it is a bot but they don't really seem that interested in their topic after all. As for syntax and scansion, perhaps English is is not their first language?
  18. Hey Robert, welcome to the Songstuff family!
  19. Hey Madhav, welcome to the Songstuff family! Good to have you with us
  20. I think people often misinterpret rules/guidelines and what they represent. Making music is like crossing a sea in a boat. No matter what happens there are fundamentals to crossing the sea.... the boat has to float, and it has to float quickly enough in a given direction otherwise you might starve to death before you get to your destination. You want to get to the right destination too for that matter. They are all optional... but the consequences of not following them are very serious. Then there are a number of more random things that you could do. You could dive out half way through and drown. It is certainly creative, and if your goal was to drown half way across it has perfectly achieved that objective! Most guidelines fall into another category... if you don't follow them, it is recommended that you mitigate the negative consequences otherwise it could be a problem. For example, you could drill a hole in the bottom of the boat. If you do so, bailing is probably a good idea, otherwise your boat will sink. You could take something to plug the hole, could plug the hole and bail. You could row or put up a sail, or attach a motor etc etc. Every option has pros, and cons... only some of the risks are massive or the consequences could kill the project. Writing songs is exactly like that. You could try and reinvent boats, or simply accept that to be a boat, certain rules have to be followed, or that if you do not follow them, you have to mitigate the negative consequences of other decisions. Simple
