  1. Hiya Rebel - thx for that helpful explanation post - it's a start. For help in critiquing Rap/Hip-Hop when you don't know - http://forums.songstuff.com/topic/35988-critiquing-rap-lyrics/ Now onto this topic I'm gonna have to come back when I've more time and my heads not full of Rock, Country, Ballads, Reggae etc But (and that's a BIG BUT), I got through the above without too many problems - yes
  2. Thx Rebel - that's a good intro and help to us all here I think Any otheer emcees POV's? Keep 'em coming so we can start gunning to get you all running your mouths off
  3. Welcome, we have a few rappers here, can always do with more
  4. Hi Andi & welcome to SS It's a nice piece, but just as I'm expecting it to 'grow', it actually pulls back, so I'm a little deflated.
  5. Sure you'll like it here Terry, welcome Make sure you have a good nosey
  6. Hi, welcome And you've joined us for .......... ? Looking forward to finding out
  7. An old teenage favourite of mine Tom. Good to see it's within your repertoire Nobody -> Alien?
  8. I doubt this will be difficult for you guys to continue BEN E KING - YES http://youtu.be/CBBg-XMrnDY Now's the challenge to write a song called NO
  9. Give, and give, and give, and then so shall ye receive Welcome
  10. Good intro Zak, welcome. Please take the time to have a good look around including reading through old posts etc, to get a good feel of what's actually in your hands now, through Songstuff Like your attitude of giving - you'll reap the rewards doing it that way
  11. I realise they're different, but it makes it very hard to critique when you've got metaphors and nouns replacing ways you can say that make more sense - regardless of a classic structure. It means they become meaningless as you can completely miss the point, know what I mean? I don't get the argument that "it has to end in the same letters" to rhyme. I'd much rather hear a line like - She'll pull the strings on your heart then send you to oblivion Rather than "She'll pull the strings on your heart then make you feel indifferent". Tell you what, here's a challenge for ya:- Write a post explaining the ins and outs of rap/hip-hop lyrics, that will allow members to better understand the 'rules' you need to follow. In doing this, you should get more and better fedback. Will you?
  12. You came off as rude, flippant and arrogant. Apology accepted. So in your world of hip-hop, you're telling me that context and use of a word out of it, is acceptable? That using a noun to describe and not an adjective is acceptable? Maternity clothes, maternity ward etc. And as far as your 'flow' goes, C & T both have the E
  13. No, so your lucky that at least 1 idiot is prepared to spend their time trying to give you some feedback & help - I guess listening to hip-hop deprives you of decent manners - man Back to maternity - replace it with pregnancy
  14. We'd better get in quick with kickstarter so we can get a decent payout then David
  15. That's quite a discussion after the video. The "take the test" between a WAV and an AAC file is still ok to do. The problem is the files are like 40 secs long. Not really enough based on the music sampled to be distinguishable (yep, I didn't get it all right which surprised me). Did you take the test Jim??
  16. Hiya Tarragon, welcome and before Michelle jumps in asking, I'll beat her to it this time Hit me up anytime
  17. She'll pull the strings on your heart then make you feel indifferent - oblivion? A bright future turned into maternity ? you mean eternity? Seems too many words the same, just by adding say a prefix - different/indifferent/security/insecurities etc I'm also having trouble keeping up with the changes in what you're talking about - maybe because it's short?
  18. Good intro and with all you've said, you're more than welcome to join us here
  19. Cutaia - gonna spell that wrong one day I can't say I didn't look around a few years ago, but I was lucky in finding SS so soon, and quite simply what stopped me going elsewhere was the help, instruction, guidance, critique, friendliness and masses of posts going back over it's 13 years, to glean a lot of relevant info. I've no reason to go elsewhere because even though the range of styles and genre's are apparent, we all do our best to offer feedback regardless of it being "ours". Plus I see lyricists jumping in to music posts and musicians jumping in to help lyricists, etc. The other thing about SS that you may not yet have cottoned onto being new, is all the extra's, the promotion, the free blogs, access to producers etc, collaborations, legalities and on and on. I just don't know of anywhere else that covers all bases under one roof, that also helps you grow, develop and learn - with a commitment like it has. As biased as I am, you found yourself a new musical home and family. End of discussion (Disclaimer - Warning points will be rewarded to anyone who .................... in this thread ) ps - I was paid zero, zilch, nada for saying the above haha
  20. Everything is relevant! Way to go MM , ask them before they've even drawn breath (I'm only joking Michelle) Welcome, I'm slightly better than a rusty nail, don't play but do write lyrics - a match made in hell ..... I mean heaven if I do say so myself. Get stuck in, look around a lot and see you on the dark side
  21. Hiya, does it have to be this version - Ableton Live 8.2.2 ?? Are you familiar with any other kinds of DAWS?
  22. That's a good place to begin Thx, plenty of folks here I'm sure would find even the basics a good help.
  23. Ok Doc, get stuck in ............ and welcome
  24. Hiya, glad you came back to introduce yourself Just wondering, would you be up for helping people new to the likes of Ableton?
