  3. No idea what you're talking about haha but, nice to meet you - welcome to SS
  4. Hey & welcome to SS The best thing you can do (honestly) is spend a week or so, depending on how much time you have free, just looking all over SS and seeing how things work etc, where things are, how people critique and so on - just take it easy and build your confidence in your own time. No need to jump in with both feet!!
  5. Hey, you'll find some fellow rappers around the forum - welcome to SS
  6. Hey Ben, you'll find lots of scope and options for your talents here - just do some searching
  7. You've always the poets corner here anyway - welcome
  8. Hi and welcome. This is a big question for a lot of people so don't focus on it too much or it'll mess u up. Just for starters, start asking if any musicians would like to begin collaborating. Go to Soundcloud and find instrumentals to see how they are composed. Think along these lines. Basically, we all begin somewhere which is in itself jumping in the deep end. So don't try and begin by jumping into the ocean. Take it one stage at a time.
  9. Hey Jonny, Forums initially can be a bit daunting and lot's of folks forget how it felt when they began. So welcome and any questions you've got, just ask or look under the FAQ link (that's a questions and answers self help place), search using the search feature etc. Generally, keep clicking on the links and reading a few posts in each section of the 'forum' to get an idea of what goes where and how.
  10. Smoking killed my voice, I can't play an instrument so your implosion is ahead of me by a long mile haha (you've got all that great experience) - good to have you on board
  11. It's that easy? Welcome aboard David
  12. Agree with the mix of Always and Tom. Stop trying as this is just one of those rare things that forcing it = zero result. I have music in my head but can't get it out so I don't try. I can write and when it comes I think it flows but then it stops, just like turning off the tap. It'll come back though. Musicians I've known can't write words and so collaborations happen. This may be a way to begin for you. I hear apiece of music and I have a problem stopping the words coming, maybe you're the same with music. Write things down though, carry a little book with you always - this allows thoughts, ideas, insights, sights and sounds etc to not be forgotten, and to be revisited at a later time. You're frustrated, write down the list of everything you feel until the words have run dry. Apply a mind map to them all. And don't worry if you can't, we cannot all be "songwriters", but together we can write great songs. Send me a some music if you want. Post some music and ask everyone to submit lyrics. Work with what you have, not at what you don't.
  13. I'll take on board what you're saying in the article, but I think I'd have to use it backwards for the way I write. That means, write the lyrics and then go back to see if the 3 questions are answered and maintained throughout, changing anything that is needed. Good article though as you explain the reasons with a great example and simply. Thanks.
  14. Hi Prom, Sorry I've only today been able to reply, got the notice then everything went offline. Thanks for the input
  15. Hi, I'm putting this here because radio is a part of the biz. So is there anyone on the forums who is or has been involved in an online radio station? Did you setup a station? Did you have a job with a station? Did the station run ads? How did they choose the music? Did it earn money? Were they open to indie artists? Basically, if you've had any experience at all starting a radio station, working for a radio station, getting music played on a radio station, setting up the IT part (softwares etc) - absolutely any dealings with, on any basis or level, please post your detailed experiences below. I'm not asking do you listen to online radio. I'm asking have you had any involvement in setting up, working with (in the ad sales, IT, DJ'ing (whatever) departments or getting your music promoted and/or played on an online radio station, please relay your experiences, what your involvement was, was it good/bad etc etc. I'm also asking for any tips and tricks you know of - eg for making a station earn, how to attract more listeners, IT fixes, shoutcast vs icecast, how to attract advertisers, how to promote the station and where, - anything. But please, if you have had no involvement in an online radio station but you have ideas and suggestions, I'd prefer you not to post/answer. I'd prefer to keep this post as a factual and life experience related post. If someone kindly offers info and you have a question or two, debate/ask away
  16. Hi Vlad - do you have another place like Soundcloud you can upload your demo's to (or Gigabase)? I can't access youtube. Thanks
  17. Hi Vivies, I'm looking forward to your input as a professional for a lot of the members here. I would advise caution however in your signature link. Some people may think you are here for business reasons alone. If you're an artist, band etc, then no problem. That's what we're here for, to help you promote your music. If however you're offering a service, then by all means do so, but not in a signature please. Here http://forums.songstuff.com/forum/89-advertisements/ is the place for that. Thanks
