What Age Were You When You Wrote Your First Lyric ...

Recommended Posts

and how disturbingly bad was it?

I was about 10 or 11 and the chorus went something like this.....

Dream man come to my window now

Dream man come to me door

Dream man come to my window now

I don't care if you snore!

Another went like this....

Rock, Rock Boom

Rock, Rock around the city!

Rock, Rock Boom

Rock, Rock around the place!

My thoughts have changed since then (I DO care if a guy snores now haha). Hopefully I have improved but I love looking back and smiling. I would be super interested to see what guys came up with!!

Haha that's pretty funny :)

I think the first song I wrote was when I was 13. Pretty sure I posted it on songstuff. If you want to find you'll have to really dig through my topics page. It's titled Most Of My.

I tried to write my first song in the 5th grade... so around age 10? The song was called "Destiny" and the only thing I remember from it is as follows:

(Chorus)

Destiny, Destiny!

Here on my

Destiny, Destiny!

The genius that started it all :)

Hmmm I'm not sure, I dabbled with poetry and lyrics when I was a kid but didn't get really write completed songs. I had written more complete songs at about 11 or so. That said it was still in the wings until i was about 14 or 15 as I was far more focused on performing and learning instruments before then.

I don't remember how old I was - no idea whatsoever.

But I know how old I was when I first wrote a song-lyric with which I was perfectly happy and proud.

54 years old.

Finally I know how to do it.

I am a late bloomer.

Or just slow.
