Spring

You came, oh gentle Spring time

In the arms of a benevolent breeze.

You melted away ole Winters snow

And dusted off the trees.

Like a beautiful Maiden cleaning house

You went about your task

Of making things look new again

You swept away Winters mask.

You resurrected life anew

And called the world from sleep.

You thoughtfully cared for every plant

Like a shepherd tends his sheep.

You raised the flowers sleepy heads

Pulled green leaves from tired gray bark.

And you did not even think to rest

When the Western sky grew dark.

Like a mother watches her children grow,

You watched your children too,

And you can just be feel darn proud

Of the way they all pulled through.

And now that they are all mature

And no longer stay at home,

You can now sit back, relax,

Just let your children roam.

We hate to see you leave us now,

But for the great job you have done,

You have our most grateful thanks,

You are our favorite one.
