Hello all,

It's great to find a site of like minded individuals that can come together to share their love and passion for music. Whether you are a writer, performer, musician, producer...etc, we all made it to this site because of our desire to network or collaborate with others. I have been around music pretty much my whole life. I started out, probably like most, singing in a church. I have a small system set up in my garage and when I want some free time, I go out play the guitar and sing like I am performing to thousands. My passion for songwriting started about 6 years ago. I ended up writing a song that was simply to be a gift to my daughter to use at her wedding once she got older (that is if I ever let her get married :-) )

Before I knew it, it was turned into a full blown demo in studio and like most, I uploaded it to myspace. A couple hundred plays came in a few days at a time, and before I knew it, I was getting several thousand of plays a day on the song. Some days I even was ranked #1 in Independent artist categories. To date, the song has nearly 3 million plays. I do not say any of this to boast or to brag but to simply share my experience of what could happen even to the little people. I had the opportunity to pitch the song in Nashville, but I was not completely satisfied with the terms at the meeting so I walked away.

Over the past 2 years I have done a lot of research in the music industry and started to network and make contacts. Whether you have intentions of making it big or just trying to get your foot in the door, you have to make connections. I have met some great people as I am the creator of the Keith Whitley myspace and facebook pages. Through these networks, I have met some very nice people. Lori Morgan (wife of the late Keith Whitley), Craig Martin (wrote #1 single Don't take the girl -Tim McGraw), Gary Nichols, (Major Record Label) and many more.

Sometimes you have to be willing to just ask questions to those that have been down this road before. That is the only way you are going to learn. Also, pick people that are going to be able to provide you honesty and constructive criticism. The last thing you want is 100 friends telling you that all your songs are #1 hits.

Well now that I have almost written a book here, I will close by saying I am very passionate about music in general. I have decided to focus more of my time on writing songs and collaborating with like minded people. I don't claim to know everything or even half there is to know about the industry but I am a very upfront and honest person. Fell free to message me if you would like some information, possibly collaborate, or just to say hello.

God Bless,

Shaun Nichols
