Hi From Mark In San Francisco

Hi everyone. I'm Mark and I'm an east coaster (Boston) living now in San Francisco. After a long break from formal music playing - I was a clarinetist from third grade through high school - I began playing a concert scale ukulele in October 2009. I've always had a creative side; I'm writing a novel, have written a few short stories and a long poem, "Horton Hears a Hooah!", about a boot-camp style exercise class, and I've been a cartoonist since I was a kid, but I hadn't thought seriously about writing songs until I began playing the ukulele. I've since branched out to other scale ukuleles (now I prefer tenors and baritones) and I recently bought a tenor guitar with "Chicago" (DGBE) tuning. I'm looking forward to browsing the forums for inspiration and helpful hints, and eventually, I hope, contributing to the forums as well. Thanks for what looks like a very cool site!

Thanks for the greetings. I haven't had much time to browse the site yet, but it looks interesting and informative from what I've seen so far. I hope tyo spend a little more time here when things settle down after the new year.
