Hello From Sweden

Hi,

 

I mostly make music as way to express myself. I have no ambition beyond the joy of having the odd stranger enjoying my songs. I'm quite happy when I get a hundred or so plays and a few comments on SoundCloud, that I joined about a year ago.

 

SoundCloud has also given me the opportunity to work with some new musical acquaintances, which is really great fun!

 

I'm joining Songstuff in the hope of finding a good forum to discuss music making - Particularly writing lyrics. 

 

Musically, I'm pathetically stuck in the early eighties - And most of what I record sounds like some sort of synth based post punk (what was called "New Romantic" way back when), whether I intend it to or not. Lyrics-wise, it get's a bit more complicated...

I think you'll like Sweden in the summertime.

 

You'll probably get this from anyone who speaks of their native land, but - It can be fantastic!

 

To me, it's at its best at night, or early in the morning - Especially where there's water.

 

This can be in the very center of Stockholm. Walking home after a night on the town. Or in, or on the shores of, the archipelago outside it. Where, a thousand years ago, the Vikings gathered for their journeys into the east - Even to far of Byzantium. To Constantinople. The Great City, "Miklagård" - Oriental, with it's rumors of ancient Rome.

 

Or in the very different archipelago on the west coast, on the threshold of the Atlantic.

 

In the flat and cultivated lands of the south.

 

In the vast and eerie solitude of the north.

 

Or by a forest lake. Where, at dusk, the loon calls.

There is true magic there.

I have Swedish friends in the UK and went to Sweden in 2012 - Gothenberg, Bohuslan coast and Stockholm. You have one cool country. And some great bands.
