Thursday Night Original Song - "Recurring Dream"

Lyrics:

"I woke up in the morning to a crash of thunder and a flash of lightening. I sat up thinking of my recurring dream that was rudely disrupted.

In the dream I'm running from something, and my feet pick up off the ground,
and I slowly rise, higher and higher, to the top of the trees, then I keep going to the top of the clouds, with a cold mist in my face.

I'm thankful for the rain and I'm happy for electricity.
But when it wakes me up, I remember to pray that the morning finds us alive.

And dreams are barely there like memories except they never were.

And when the thunder dies down I can go back to sleep, but the dream has faded. And when it returns on some other night, for the moment I'll pretend that it's real.

Since recording this I have found my pop screen and placed it on the mic. So, hopefully that will solve that issue. Thanks for the suggestion Hobosage. And yes, starise, I added some harmonies. Hopefully it's not too unexpectedly off-putting. Thank you for listening and commenting!

There's a sophistication to this that I personally don't hear in modern music very often, but I think you have to have a certain measure of ability to achieve a composition like this, which you have in spades.

Wonderful piano playing.  Absolutely awesome.  Chord progression, voicing, runs up and down, etc...

Overall the musical spirit of this song reminds me of the old Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby days.  It has that pop/jazzy vibe to it.  Would love to hear a big band orchestration behind it.

Lyrics are very poetic.

Really enjoyed this one.  I think you're the female Ben Folds.

Thank you, Ichough.
