It's So Nice To Be With You.

Howdy, howdy,

First of all, greetings to the usual suspects that welcome new members: it's nice to meet you, here in a part of the virtual cloud.

 

I play guitar (and drums) and could work on music and lyrics, but lyrics are my true interest: a phrase or idea well done can be true magic, and to say a lot in few words can be quite a feat, I am certain.  I came across this site, and would like to learn proper "how-to" methods of song form and function.  For example, I hope to find "the book" that everyone reads, about song writing, and such is often the case in a given field.

 

I lean toward "light" pop, rock, and perhaps toward a sense of whimsy as shown in country music.  (I'm of a certain age, as they say, and I recall the pop/Top 40 stuff of the 60s and 70s - lotta' fun silly stuff back then, I suppose.  It was my own "golden age" of music, and I'll never forget it).

I'm not pursuing this in a commercial sense; rather, I simply like words and music, and I hope to learn
(mostly) how to shape words and phrases.  Here, at your site, I can see how those with experience craft their thoughts together.  At present, I know nothing about it.  I may play music, but that does not confer upon me a magic smart pill, for knowing how one creates a well-crafted lyric.

 

Finally, for me, if a local band performs something that I may write down the road, I'd feel like King Tut.  For me, that's "success."  :-)
