Hey guys! This time something different. I just wanted to enhance the atmosphere so I kept it very simple. (There's a personal reason for this) I can't name the exact genre, guess it's kind of orchestral. Any feedback is appreciated!:) In your opinion, is this the direction I should be going or do you dig my rhythmic songs more?

I have not listened to your other music yet to compare this to your rhythmic songs, but I'm happy I landed on this piece! It was very welcome to my ears! So soothing to listen to after a long day, and inspiring in a gentle way. Lovely.

Thank you! Those kind of words are also really inspiring for me too as a composer. :)

Hi Utopia,

I too have not heard your music before, so I cant make comparisons. This is beautiful. It would fit a movie intro. The melody & phrasing remind me of Celtic forms, but its also arranged as a song would be. Maybe that why you called it a song?

I agree with Emily about the gentle mood. I'm glad I listened in. :)

Thanks! And yes, I try to make my songs enjoyable all the way to the end. I'm glad you listened to it too! :)

I think that this is suitable for pitching for film as background music. It sent me to sleep about three quarters of the way through so may also be suitable for meditation. I kept imagining african voices that would sound great on this track. I haven't heard any of your rhythmic tracks so can't comment regarding that. I think that you could pursue orchestral although it would be great if you could introduce other elements and even percussion if you kept it sparse. Well done.

This is an excellent, very majestic, piece of music. [smiley=heartpump.gif]

It definitely reminds me of a motion-picture soundtrack.  A very simple but well-chosen motif is very well developed.

One thing that I would suggest is that you might wish to weave into the arrangement a little bit of "foreshadowing" – for example, "long about 0:20, give me a little cue that something new is about to happen."  Use a recognizable variation of this same foreshadowing cue to enable the listener to anticipate the next transition event.

Finally, when the piece nears its end, wrap it up.  Send the piece to a "coda," which once again foreshadows that it's about to reach a conclusion, and then which does wrap the piece up in a very memorable way and with obvious closure.

I don't know what else you have written, but I sure-as-heck want to hear more stuff like this!

I'm watching a movie like Lord of the Rings, and a main character has just chosen to sacrifice himself for the good of all.  He is fortifying his resolve, saying goodbye in his heart to all he's about to leave behind.  The rest look on in fear and awe, has he bravely plunges himself into the fires, then everyone is morning him, then it cuts to a scene of a cerimony honoring this man and his great sacrifice.  That's what this song made me feel like.  Honor, sacrifice, nobility, all these things come to mind when I listen to this track.  No critiques, that was beautiful.

Wonderful!!!!!!! The only thing I wasn't too sure about was the melody instrument. I assume a violin, which I thought sounded very "electricky." I'd love to hear this done by Celtic Woman, with their own cw on violin... something else. BUT, very well done. BTW, I, too, have not heard any of your other stuff, but i'm goin' a-huntin' now.

Regards,

Bri

I'm glad you enjoyed the response! Celtic Woman's unique style could indeed bring a fresh perspective to these classical works, especially with their talented violinist adding their own flair. Enjoy your musical journey!
