While others sing lyrics, I hum signature riffs and bass line

After having played in rock cover bands for so many years, I'm finally starting to compose and write my own music. I'm great on the "instrumental", super creative, and am looking to strengthen my songwriting skills. When listening to songs, I tend to hear the instruments, such as the bass line, but am focusing more on lyrics nowadays.

that is cool that you hear the instruments. do you have any samples of your stuff or a soundcloud page?

Hi Lisa. I have a recording of a song called The Machine that I'll PM to you. It has since been slightly rearranged from the time that was recorded. I'm working on finishing up the lyrics and then will add vocals. I play all instruments, except for the drums, which are programmed and will be recorded later as well.

Hopefully when working on a song you'll hear the melody of the vocals in your head as well, like you do the instruments. That's a big help if so.

You are so right. That and songwriting are my biggest tasks right now. I have 16 good songs, and am working on the vocal side of things now.
